CRAZY!

INSANE!

MADMAN THEY CALLED ME!

but now look at them, nothing more than ash piles in their wake...

The apocalypse has come,

the four ride upon the earth...

BEHOLD...

Abhorrent Overlord Horseman of Conquest

Rakdos the Defiler Horseman of War

Pestilence Demon Horseman of Famine

Reaper from the Abyss Horseman of Death

"There are some secrets so dark no human mind should ever contain them. Interested?"

Then put this on and let us begin...

So you think your insane enough to pilot this deck?

good...good...let the hate flow through you :D

It is a lot of fun to use and offers a variety of ways to screw over your opponents. From combo's such as It That Betrays + Pox to simply reanimating a Master of Cruelties after a board wipe with Torrent of Souls . You will have the ability to suddenly kill out of nowhere and turn your board state around in an instant, although, with Rakdos the Defiler as a commander you also have the ability to cripple yourself with one swing. So pick your targets carefully, time your attacks right, and you will be victorious...or..you know..get AEtherized.

Good luck :P

Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, "Come." I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it was Abhorrent Overlord; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.

Land destruction.

yep.

because your already destroying all yours with rakdos so why not balance things out and you know destroying everything is kinda fun for everyone right?

My current build doesn't run as much of this as some others simply because I find this the least fun way to win with the deck but if you want to go ahead and put more in.

Keldon Firebombers

Boom/Bust

Wake of Destruction

are all good options.

You'll also notice that both Pox and Death Cloud work very well with It That Betrays usually winning you the game if they resolve.

When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, "Come." And another, a red horse, went out; and to him, Rakdos the Defiler, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.

The most simple win condition is through combat, many demons are large beaters anyway and with cards such as Mass Hysteria,Insurrection or World at War it is very easy to kill all players at the table in one turn.Cards that give extra combat steps, turns or double strike are particularly effective with Rakdos the Defiler as his second ability would trigger multiple times.

When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, "Come." I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it was the Pestilence Demon and had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard something like a voice in the centre of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine."

The back-up win condition ;famine focuses on drain effects such as Exsanguinate fuelled by rituals ( Burnt Offering ),mana doublers (Caged Sun), and recast effects (Past in Flames).

Pestilence Demon + Whip of Erebos is a good alternative to Exsanguinate and gains you a lot more life.

When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, "Come." I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it was Reaper from the Abyss; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth...

Demon's are expensive.

therefore to win with a big board of them you are going to have to cheat them out.

Primarily this involves packing in the best reanimation effects available to us Reanimate,Animate Dead,Necromancy etc.

Combined with cards that can get the right creatures in the graveyard Buried Alive and Entomb.

Our card draw suite also has built in discard utilising wheel effects(e.g Wheel of Fortune) to dump all your expensive demons while filtering through to find reanimation cards or to fuel a massive Living Death (of course via this method you benefit your opponents as well which is why we have cards such as Malfegor to remove their newly acquired board, and many haste givers so you can win the turn you cast it.

One nice combo is using Insidious Dreams to chuck creatures and look for: Faithless Looting, It That Betrays, and Living Death. Then next turn use looting chuck It That Betrays and another creature and cast Living Death to get them all back.

Rise of the Dark Realms and a haste enabler has a tendency to end games too.

I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake(Magmaquake); and the sun became black as sack cloth made of hair(Black Sun's Zenith), and the whole moon became like blood(Blood Moon);and the stars of the sky fell to the earth(Ryusei, the Falling Star), as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. The sky was split apart like a scroll when it's rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places(Decree of Annihilation).

Everything else has failed the other win conditions could not be set up?

Then begin the apocalypse...

Use Doomsday or Insidious Dreams to rig the top of your library and then Hellcarver Demon to cast them all for free. You will either win or die, either way the game ends for you.

There are many cards you can put on top but one option could look like:

Insurrection

Savage Beating (paying the entwine cost)

World at War

plus a selection of demons.

Or:

It That Betrays

Pox

Fervor

plus other forced sacrifice effects.

Or if you want to be really evil...

Decree of Annihilation

with creatures :D

While all cards were chosen as they were the best for what they do,I wanted every card to fit the apocalypse/hell theme. This does not mean that all creatures need to be demons however I will explain any cards that may seem a bit off theme at first.

I am constantly switching cards in and out of the deck so some cards mentioned may no longer be in the list or some in the list may not be mentioned.

Doomed Necromancer - Instant speed reanimation and gives us an early blocker which demon tribal usually has problems with.

Magus of the Wheel- We need card draw and demons in our graveyard.

Liliana, Heretical Healer   - Lady makes deals with demons she's on theme, planeswalker side has all relevent abilities as well. Also needed some good early drops and a bit of lifelink ain't bad either.

Anger- Grr easy haste enabler Grr

Bloodline Keeper   - You know who this guy is? Dracula. You know who dracula was? Son of the devil. There on theme! also really good 4 drop tht gives us some things to sac to rakdos or decent attackers when we need to give someone a Savage Beating!

Blood Speaker - Dude summons demons,Demons summon dude.Repeatable tutor.run him.always.

Crypt Ghast- Double mana is nice.

Rakdos,Lord of Riots- Cheaper demons is good. Also tends to have targeted removal fired at him which means less for them to use on the good Rakdos ;)

Master of Cruelties- After a board wipe with haste this guy one shots, fear the all mighty Leechridden Swamp !

Archfiend of Depravity - Tokens gotta die yo. Also prepares the board for The arrival of Rakdos the Defiler :)

Ob Nixilis, Unshackled- Stops combo and ramp decks nicely and after a while on the board can be a big beater.

Sire Of Insanity- I'm insane.

Malfegor- Very good after using Living Death to clear there board.Or on the turn your going to swing with Rakdos.

Hellcarver Demon - Have I mentioned this? ...I'm insane!Combined with Doomsday or Insidious Dreams wins games.

Reaper from the Abyss- Usually allows us to kill something every turn or two grants a lot worth if left out for a while. You cannot escape Death...

Flayer of the Hatebound-gives extra worth to you reanimation effects, and with Rise of the Dark Realms can one shot people or the entire table dependent upon opponents graveyards.Important note, does not trigger off of Living Death.

Abhorrent Overlord- Lots of black mana symbols in demon's costs so overlord tends to produce quite a few tokens. As with Bloodline Keeper   good for attacking or sacrificing to Rakdos.

Overseer of the Damned-Kills something on entry can build up an army for you pretty strong all round, replaced sheoldred as its usually less of a target and is also a demon (I still think sheoldred is better but politics/theme wise this works better).

Lord of the Void- Fun ability great when given double strike or extra combat steps.

It That Betrays- Wins games.

Oh you want to know more? ok how about Pox? or Death Cloud? stealing everybody's lands and creatures sound good?

give him extra combat steps and annihilate someone or let Rakdos swing and give you some real worth.

Artifacts

Whip of Erebos- There's a lot of life loss in this deck so gaining a bit back from lifelink is nice, the reanimation effect is a bit pricey and you usually don't want to use it because of the exiling part but if your going to win with the swing (or its the commander) then go ahead.

Anvil of Bogardan- Affects everyone which can make you friends but allows you to filter every turn throwing big creatures and looking for reanimation effects.

Sol Ring/Thran Dynamo/Worn Powerstone/Rakdos Signet- Mana acceleration, more of a focus on the more expensive ones that produce more as demons are pricey and reanimation effects allow getting them out early anyway.

Caged Sun- Usually name black as this effects most creatures and more of the lands, with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth effects everything.

Enchantments

Animate Dead- One of the better reanimate effects, downside is irrelevant.

Necromancy- Animate Dead with no downside, can be cast an instant speed if need be.

Fervor- Haste is nice when a lot of your creatures have on damage effects.

Black Market- Can build up to producing a lot of mana

Instants

Entomb- Why are you questioning this?

Insidious Dreams- Used for the combo with Hellcarver Demon ,each time you do it you can put something new to the top so the combo doesn't get boring. Also not a bad tutor especially with a wheel effect available.

Savage Beating- Easy win with a large board or Insurrection.

Terminate- Removal.

Burnt Offering -Good for Exsanguinate or to hard cast a Rise of the Dark Realms or similar effect.

Sorceries

Black Sun's Zenith- Board wipe that get indestructible creatures and is reusable.

Buried Alive- Puts things in grave. Is good.

Death Cloud- Combo's with It That Betrays or just good if you have mana rocks and your opponents don't.

Doomsday- Another one to combo with Hellcarver Demon

Dreadbore- Removal.

Exhume- Great early game reanimation spell, poor later on.

Exsanguinate- Alternative win con.

Faithless Looting- Filter with flashback ,great for a reanimation deck.

Insurrection- Can win games, better with extra combat steps or double strike.Worst case swing with Rakdos and sacrifice everyone else's stuff.

Living Death- Suddenly swings the game around and usually surprises people, you usually have a bigger graveyard than everyone else so it turns out best for you.

Pox- It That Betrays with this is an insta-win usually otherwise just ouch,it does so much for just 3 mana.

Reanimate- Best reanimation spell ever printed.period.hits opponents graveyards too.

Reforge the Soul/Wheel of Fortune- Draw and discard does two things we want also great to topdeck after Malfegor.

Rise of the Dark Realms- Another fun card to get off of Hellcarver Demon if your hard casting use Boseiju, Who Shelters All if possible, a haste enabler would be nice too.

Torrent of Souls - Expensive yes,but great for launching a surprise attack.Reanimating It That Betrays,Master of Cruelties or Abhorrent Overlord can cause game changing swings.

Final Fortune-two mana for an extra turn? I'll take it! what there's a downside you say...World at War- More combat steps=more pain

Past in Flames- Allows the recast of rituals from the grave for mana to fuel Exsanguinate or recast some reanimation. All round strong card late game.

I won't explain all of the options here, anything that taps for red/black (Rakdos Guildgate,Bloodfell Caves etc.) is obvious why its included I 'll just talk about the ones with extra effects.

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - An auto include in any deck using black in my opinion.Great mana fixing.

Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep -Enters untapped and can be used to protect rakdos in combat or for politics when using on opponents creatures/commander.

Shizo, Death's Storehouse - Can make any commander unblockable vs certain opponents makes rakdos very hard to block with fear, trample, flying.Again good for politics.

Flamekin Village - Haste is very important for this deck as it gives us the element of surprise, also can be used on oppenents creatures.

Tomb of Urami - I'm insane.

Leechridden Swamp - Because Master of Cruelties is a thing.

Boseiju, Who Shelters All - protects all the big sorceries you'll be using to win the game.

And if you have any ideas for cards that would work well here please recommend them, thanks!
