Jhoira, Storm of Tokens

Happy Birthday Ben!

Here is your very own custom artifact artifact commander deck designed by yours truly as well as desojoe.

I tried to make the deck with as many artifacts as possible while also keeping it relatively straightforward with a few funky win cons. Overall, the deck wants to get Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain out as quickly as possible and start dumping artifacts and using her ability to draw cards and get your engine moving.

The most powerful card in the deck is probably Aetherflux Reservoir. If you can get that on the battlefield and string together a series of low cost artifacts you can easily gain 40+ life in a turn and nuke at least one person. Beyond Aetherflux Reservoir there are a couple other ways to storm off with either Empty the Warrens or a personal favorite of mine: Ignite Memories.

Towards the end of the deck I started to add in a token sub-theme which you can easily get going with cards like, Efficient Construction, Sai, Master Thopterist, The Antiquities War, Empty the Warrens, Mishra's Self-Replicator, Golem Foundry, and March of the Machines. These can easily combo with Inspiring Statuary and Ashnod's Altar for mana a well as provide some good pillow-fort if nothing else to let you develop another win con. You can also string together a pretty janky and fun win with the tokens by using Dragonshift or Day of the Dragons to give yourself and army of flying dragons to smash face. Alternatively, you can always generate a bunch of artifact tokens then drop Hellkite Tyrant to win on your next upkeep.

Honestly, this token theme is probably the best route for the deck and I wish I could have included some more token generators, it just wasn't quite possible with the budget. I'll list a few cards below that I highly recommend throwing in if you wanna put just a bit of money into upgrading the deck.

There are a few other ways to win or at least deal a considerable amount of damage through cards such as Psychosis Crawler, Firebrand Archer, and Reckless Fireweaver.

If you ever run out of gas and get stuck you can use Rebuild, Displacement Wave, and Paradoxical Outcome to bounce your board back to your hand and start replaying artifacts to get the Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain engine going again. I might consider adding Merchant Scroll just to be able to tutor for these if need be.

Finally one of the dumbest, but most hilarious 12 mana combos you can pull off is Mycosynth Lattice + Hellkite Tyrant. If you can get them both on the board and then get through with Hellkite Tyrant you will steal literally their entire board. At that point there's a good chance you'll have 20 or more artifacts so if you can make it to your next upkeep you'll win the game.

Token Stuff

Mechanized Production really should have gone in the deck already. I didn't realize how good it was until recently. Basically, if you can get it out with 8 artifact tokens of the same name you win the game.

The Locust God is amazing at creating tokens in this deck because you draw nearly every time you cast something. Only downside is the tokens aren't artifacts, but that's not a huge deal. At about $6.00 I just couldn't squeeze it in, but I highly recommend it.

Sharding Sphinx seems good I think... you can make that call after playing the deck a bit. My idea is that it allows you to swing with tokens while gaining more tokens to block with so you don't leave yourself exposed.

Gas

When play testing the deck I was a bit surprised to find myself getting stuck with no good way to restart the Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain engine. If you can get your hands on a Skullclamp I highly recommend it. With amount of 1/1 Tokens you can get, it can draw an incredible amount of cards and be an easy way to get rolling again. Bonus points because it's an artifact.

I also might add one more way to bounce your artifacts to your hand like Hurkyl's Recall or possibly even Merchant Scroll just to be able to tutor a bounce card to your hand.

I was going to include Foundry Inspector, but wasn't able to get my hands on one. That mana reduction is nice in this deck so if you find yourself wanting more of that it's always an option.

Food For Thought

Mana rocks are verrrryyy good in this deck. Thought Vessel is a favorite within our playgroup and can be very useful when you find a way to draw into like a twenty card hand. I'm a bit on the fence about it in this deck because most of the time you'll need to play a card to draw a card so you're hand size will break even... but if you find yourself having to discard a lot this is a good option. Gilded Lotus needs no explanation, you can decide after playing the deck a bit if you think it's worth a slot.

Paradox Engine + Mana Rocks = GG

Crawlspace if you find yourself needing more pillowfort, but after adding those other token generators I think you'll have plenty of disposable chump blockers.

Sensei's Divining Top is one of the best artifacts in commander. Again, bonus points because it's an artifact. Obviously not the flashiest or most fun card in the world, but it will make virtually any deck better.

If you find yourself wanting the deck to be able to smash face more I threw a couple options in the Maybeboard such as Arcbound Crusher or Hellkite Igniter, but honestly if you like the token route I might avoid these.
