Buzz Buzz Buzz. We all love an army of bees. Sure in life they may be terrifying but why not make those terrifying bugs your friends - better yet why not use those friends to pay for better ones? This unfortunately non-budget, R/G combo deck turns your army of bees into free mana to bring out the next best thing - dragons.
Well it all revolves around bees. Yep those buzzing and terrifying little demons from hell are now your best friends. Using Hornet Nest you burn it with a powerful Roast to bring out 5 lovely 1/1 deathtouch flying bees! Granted, this takes some turns so to help out Elvish Mystic is there to help ramp from your first turn - Thanks Elvish Mystic.
So why bring out a wall of death and horror, well beyong acting as a wonderful barrier and deterent, the bees work incredibly well with Chord of Calling. Use its convoke cost and boom you're bring out Surrak, the Hunt Caller, Thunderbreak Regent, or even Stormbreath Dragon if the one drop went well. Aren't your new bee friends useful?!
Of corse if all goes well turn 4 you can play Dragonlord Atarka if you have enough bees or just bring her in late game if needed.
Obviously, this is creature heavy but its ok, because well, Bees are literally everywhere. However, the deck is packed with Stoke the Flames that is super easy to play thanks to, you guessed it, your bees! Also, Draconic Roar is is there for nice way to burn opponent's creatures and deal damage; because you are almost guaranteed a dragon in your hand from the start.
In addition, Ranger's Guile is there to help protect against spell removals after you bring a the big guns to the field. Lastly, good ol' Den Protector is situated nicely in this deck to bring the dead back to your hand so you can keep roasting all day long.
So listen up Bee buddies, because this is the beauty of this deck if all goes right:
Turn 1: Play Forest, Tap 1 Land, Play Elvish Mystic.
Turn 2: Play Mountain, Tap 2 Land + Elvish Mystic, Play Hornet Nest,
Turn 3: Play Mountain, Tap 2 Land, Play Roast on Hornet Nest = 5 1/1 Flying Deathtouch Bees, Tap 1 land + Elvish Mystic + Convoke Bees, Play Chord of Calling, Bring Surrak, the Hunt Caller or Thunderbreak Regent into Play!
Turn 4 (if you are lucky): PlayMountain, Tap 4 Land, Tap Bees, Tap Elvish Mystic, Play 2nd Chord of Calling, Play Dragonlord Atarka!
Thats right everyone, your new bee friends bring out Surrak, the Hunt Caller with haste and attacking, or Thunderbreak Regent to start the dragon offensive on turn 3! AND Dragonlord Atarka turn 4! Don't you just love those poisonous little bastards?!
