"One time a control player told me to forget everything I knew about control decks... so I did. He then started to tell me about a new control deck, but I didn't have a clue what he was talking about"

Imagine it: You're playing best out of three and you've both won a game. You're playing esper control, and you've had no choice but to tap out in order to play your win-con and counter the Spell Pierce your opponent had saved for it. Your opponent drops a Tarmogoyf, plays Expedite to give it haste, and swings for game. If you hadn't been tapped out you could have countered that Goyf. Now you've lost a game. With this deck, that never happens. All of your creatures have flash, which is (in my opinion) one of the most underrated abilities out there. This allows for you to save you mana and pass turn, counter what you need to, and use the remaining mana on the opponent's end step to cast your creatures. You now have a creature ready to attack next turn, and you've played it with mana that you wouldn't have used anyway!
  • Telepathy- I'm truly surprised that this card isn't expensive. Only including one ensures that it won't be a dead draw, and seeing your opponent's hand allows for you to know what to save your counters for.

  • Singing Bell Strike- is a very annoying way to deal with creatures. Opponents must pay to do anything with that creature, which often isn't an option in the first place.

  • Deprive- What can I say? You can tap two islands, then return one of them to your hand for a hard counter. Play the land next turn without missing a beat.

  • Memnite yet another creature to cast without using mana that is better used for control.

  • Rattlechains, Quickling, Zealous Guardian- Cast these ONLY on the opponent's end step, once you're sure that you won't need to counter anything else for your opponent's turn.

  • Opt- Cast it on your opponent's end step with left over mana and get card advantage. Perfect.

  • Spell Pierce, Negate, Mana Leak, Rewind, Dispel- go crazy, but not too crazy.

  • Logic Knot- only running one usually makes it safe to use with delve, and is basically a more powerful Mana Leak.

  • Vapor Snag- You have options with this card- protect your creatures, send a threat back then counter it, or just slow your opponent down.

  • Island- Do I really need to explain this one?

Throw in Snapcaster Mage, Blue fetch lands, Remand, Spell Snare, Vendilion Clique and all that jazz if you want to or already own them.

And it's all under twenty dollars!!
