Baral, cheap on compliance

Gameplan is to mostly play at instant speed. Denying opponents threats with counterspells while looting with Baral, Chief of Compliance. Also playing cheap glimmers for value. Using excess mana and cards to burn the opponent in their end step. Winning in the end through beating down with a big Enigma Drake, Combustible Gearhulk or burn.

If I happen to go turn 3 Captain Lannery Storm into turn 4 Combustible Gearhulk then that is also fine. My reasoning is that baral lets me play more expensive spells which in turn gives the possibility of greater damage with the gearhulk.

Suggestions are welcome but keep in mind that I am trying to keep this cheap.

Sideboard against control, more Negate less Essence Scatter.

Against fast creature decks. Out with inferno jet and Negate. In with furious reprisal. Possibly out with gearhulk or lannery for Soul-Scar Mage as blocker?

Played some games.

Tl;dr I have had some great fun with this deck. MVP so far have been enigma drake, combusible gearhulk, and lannery storm for letting me cast the gearhulk. Baral has so far not done that much work although he let me deal 6 crucial damage to the face with Inferno Jet. Also he lets me cast both negate and counterspell on 3 islands on the opponents turn which is pretty sweet. I should probably put Abrade in the maindeck over Shock. Also I learned about the very expensive card Disallow. Not buying it now since Cancel oftentimes does the same job for much less money.

First game first round got flooded against UB control. Conceded out of boredom on turn 16. Player left the game during sideboarding for round 2.

Second game Round 1 mull to six on the play. Kept 4 lands opt and cancel. Opponent played red artifacts. Coming in in both rounds with an Ornithopter with Prying Blade. After he lightning striked my Captain Lannery Storm I was left with no threats for a long time. I saved cancel since I beleived he was building up to the 11/11 artifact creature. On turn 9 I hade drawn a total of 9 lands over the course of the game and was forced to concede.

Round 2 I dont exaclty remember the sideboarding but I brought in furious reprisal and Abrade. Out with inferno jet and negate I believe. On turn three opponents ornithopter was put on three toughness by implement of ferocity. I ended up never drawing lightning strike or abrade to deal with it. When discarding to Baral, Chief of Compliance I made a poor choice and kept a second copy of furious reprisal instead of a gearhulk. In the end it didnt matter since I got burned out by lightning strike and ramunap ruins.

Game 3 Opponent played some kind of BR cheapboys rush with weldfast engineer and augmenting automaton. Round 1 I dealt with some threats using shock and essence shatter. Glimmered when he didnt play anything worth wasting a card on. Ended up racing him with 2x [Enigma drake] on board. Burning away weldfast engineer with lightning strike. I won the race with the enigma drakes on 4/4.

Round 2 Great starting hand. 2 lands, 1 lightning strike, 2 glimmer, 1 enigma drake and 1 cancel with lightning strike as my first draw. Ended up burning away three sky skiffs with lightning strike. After doing some damage with Lannery storm he striked her. I was at 17 he was at 14. And I dropped the gearhulk doing 8 to the face and then getting disintegrated. The the last points of damage done was 2 from lannery storm, 3 lightning strike and 2 furious reprisal.

Game 4 My opponent played Abzan energy with oath of ajani, longtusk cub, the one that makes servos and so on. Very scary deck and I got crushed in round 2. The gearhulk was a hero in both the rounds that I won in this game. Not doing tooo much facedamage but scaring off attackers while my Enigma drake grew to 7 power and kept flying over the ground troops of my opponent. This game made me consider putting Abrade in the main over Shock since 3 damage kiils so many more threats in this game. And artifacts are running rampant.
