BANT CONTROL

This is a Bant control deck which is very heavy on the 'land go' play style of magic. It uses big Secure the Wastes as a win condition, and an alternative win method with Elspeth, Sun's Champion. Collective Blessing can be used with either for a concession. This deck uses instants to win, and takes advantage of a tapped out opponent. You'll want to play as many instants as you can at the end of your opponents end step. It has all the tools you need for every situtation.. Counters, removal, card draw, ect. You'll want to counter, remove, and draw your way into a perfectly sculpted hand of your win condition plays.

Tamiyo, Field Researcher should be used early to tap down creatures you can't pick off with counters and removal, and her +1 works wonders late game with Timely Reinforcements and Secure the Wastes to keep a steady flow of cards coming in. She can also cheat out Elspeth, Sun's Champion with her ultimate so you don't have to play the counter game waiting to cast her. Alchemist's Refuge is another way to cheat out plays such as your Planeswalkers, Timely Reinforcements, and Collective Blessing when your opponent is tapped out. One last way to get your threats out is to wait until you have Dispel up when you cast. You have a lot of options to get your threats out with this deck.

You'll want to play heavey tempo with this deck, exhausting the opponents resources.. Then slam your win conditions when it's safe. You could also play a little more aggressively using resources to clear the way for Timely Reinforcements, and beat them down that way. A cool little play is to use Alchemist's Refuge to flash in Timely Reinforcements on the opponents end step, then if you have Collective Blessing cast it on your following turn. Timely Reinforcements is a perfect card for this deck, allowing you to play a little more conservatively.. Then catch back up when your hand is stacked.

The sideboard plan has a little bit of everything for the tier one decks, most notably Ceremonious Rejection. This card can be brought in for almost every tier one deck.. Almost earns a mainboard slot. It handles Affinity, Tron, Eldrazi, Eldrazi/Tron. Confiscation Coup can be brought in against mid-range and control decks, and has good synergy with Glimmer of Genius. Supreme Verdict can be sided in for Tamiyo, Field Researcher for aggro match-ups, because she can't handle that pressure. For everything else, check out the sideboarding for match-ups tab on this page.

Elspeth, Sun's Champion - Win condition. A 1 of, and meant to be cast after all the opponents resources have be exhausted.

Tamiyo, Field Researcher - She picks up the slack from what the removal and counters can't get. She's meant to tap down creatures in the early game to buy you time. Then after you have a Timely Reinforcements up, she can be used to draw cards and dig for Collective Blessing.
None.
Collective Blessing - This is the alternative win condition card you can slam after a Secure the Wastes or Elspeth, Sun's Champion.
Dispel - Another way to get your threats in play without getting countered. It's better than negate because it's cheaper, and you need less mana to make the play.

Explore - Smooths out the deck by allowing you to hit land drops, and draw into action late game. It's essential to get 3-4 mana ASAP, and this helps you do that.

Remand - Another perfect tempo card.. Although it doesn't outright counter a threat, it replaces a card in your hand for a potentially better one, and prolongs the game. Like I said, this deck is all about tempo.. And tempo loves card draw.

Disallow - The best counter spell outside of legacy. Use these conservatively.

Condemn - Solid early removal in Bant colors. The life the opponent gets from this will be irrelevant later on with the horde you'll have.

Anticipate - This card is good for hitting land drops early, then digging for answers late game.

Path to Exile - Only use these against big threats, you don't want to give the opponent a mana advantage.

Secure the Wastes - Main win condition, usually meant to be cast for 6 or 7 warriors.

Glimmer of Genius - I am in love with this card, there is nothing like it thus far. Being able to scry 2-draw 2 at the end step of your opponent's turn is one of the best feelings. Then you draw another card at your draw step.. So it's essentially scry 2-draw 3! That's card advantage.
Timely Reinforcements - An all-star card, saves your ass if you stumble. Can be used to beat down your opponent if you use your resources wisely.
