An incredibly fast combo deck that utilizes all the best card draw in standard to dig for Aetherflux Reservoir and cast much of the deck to lethal the opponent as early at t4

Game Plan: Use Inspiring Statuary to make all your spells cost 1 or 2 colored mana with the help of all the 0-cost artifacts. If you don't have the Statuary, tutor for it with an eot Whir of Invention. Use Sram, Senior Edificer and Reverse Engineer to get a bunch of incidental card draw, then play Paradoxical Outcome and tap artifacts to cast it for and draw close to 10 cards (Don't bounce the statuary or Sram though unless they give lethal!). Round it off with Aetherflux Reservoir to the face for 50 damage. This usually goes off around T5, but can happen on t4 if you get lucky.

Important Interactions:

(I cut green for the moment, but I'm still going to leave this here for now:) Unbridled Growth is an aura draws an extra card with Sram, Senior Edificer in play while also fixing, so if you have Sram in hand, maybe wait to play the growth until later.

Spells cast before Aetherflux Reservoir will still count toward the life gain later. This means that if you cast a Cathar's Shield with Sram in play, drawing Aetherflux Reservoir, then cast the Reservoir and another Cathar's Shield, you will gain 3 life, because you cast 2 spells before it that turn. Then you cast an Ornithopter? You'll gain 4 life. This is especially important with Baral's Expertise.

Sram, Senior Edificer draws on cast, so if you cast an equipment or aura and your opponent Shocks him, you'll still draw a card.

Inspiring Statuary only reduces NON-artifact spells, so getting Aetherflux Reservoir can be very awkward. Fortunately, Baral's Expertise allows you to cast the Reservoir for just , while simultaneously increasing your spell count by 5! That is of course assuming you have 3 free artifacts on play, but that isn't very challenging. This is probably the most important "hidden" interaction, as it allows you to combo out on t4.

Just wanted to know how you guys feel about in this deck. Should it be cut, and if so for what?

Again, green for JUST Unbridled Growth is absurd.

It really isn't.

I've been playtesting your deck and the unbrindled growth is very good and definitely worth splashing for it cantrips for one mana and draws a card off of Sram

Scorprix says... #4

Yea, the card is strictly worse than Abundant Growth in this deck, but turns out a strictly worse abundant growth is still really really good. haha

Drizzurp says... #5

I'm really not sure what you are trying to accomplish here. I see you have plenty of card draw but what is your win-con?

February 2, 2017 10:51 a.m.

Scorprix says... #6

You win by dumping tens of spells with a Aetherflux Reservoir in play, gaining enough life to one-shot the opponent for 50 damage.

I'm actually writing a description right now to explain the deck and card choices, so come back in half an hour or so if you want to read the card choices.

Interesting. Not my style, but interesting nonetheless.

ktoppa says... #8

yo dawg i built and playtested it, its waaay too reliant on sram but whens hes out it works. merge my versions and yours together and it'll work better. The 4 sram-8 equipment-4 statuary needs to work its way into mine, also you pretty much need to mainboard a tleast 4 counterspells

Thinking about cutting green and trying out black for Tezzert's Touch and adding key to the city for an alternate win con, what do you guys think?

February 2, 2017 10:03 p.m.

Scorprix says... #10

The master speaks. I was talking with lucca and I said some number of Unbridled Growth-->Dispel, and he agreed? How does that sound? Unbridled Growth is amazing, but I reduce the count to 2-ish.

Tezzeret's Touch is cool, but doesn't really fit with the rest of the deck. like, once I'm comboing off it doesn't do much but sit in my hand. Key to the City? Is it part of some combo? Or is the idea to just draw cards with it and Inspiring Statuary?

February 2, 2017 10:35 p.m.

ktoppa says... #11

Not enough room in this deck for an alternate wincon, really need to focus on storming off

I'd rather focus on having at least a playset of counterspells rather than splashing green for 2 cards I probably won't even draw

February 3, 2017 2:40 p.m.

Scorprix says... #12

If you say so dude. The deck is for you haha. So Unbridled Growth-->Dispel? What goes in the SB tho? Another color is incredibly easy to add, so what do you recommend? Slow (non-combo) Control is this deck's weakness, so we gotta find some SB cards for that. What was your old one?

Ill make changes once I get to test variation.

spongegar says... #13

Awsome deck dude but is it consistent enough for blue mana at the right time?

February 8, 2017 3:34 a.m.

Scorprix says... #14

Yes, it certainly is. Th one change that may be coming is cutting green entirely and adding dispel to the MB instead. Thoughts?

February 8, 2017 6:59 a.m.

spongegar says... #15

I dont see exactly where this is going i think green is ok because of the color fix but how do you go off T4.

February 8, 2017 11:57 a.m.

Scorprix says... #16

You play t3 Inspiring Statuary--> tap Inspiring Statuary to play Sram for , then cycle a few equipments, cast Baral's Expertise for targeting the equipments, use the expertise to cast Aetherflux Reservoir for free, re-cast the equipments again (they will still draw you cards because Sram is still in play), this time they will gain you a ton of life, and then cast Paradoxical Outcome for and cast more free spells.

This should give you to lots of life, and much more than enough to OTK with your Aetherflux Reservoir.

February 8, 2017 1:35 p.m.

spongegar says... #17

Ok i tested a bit with this deck( i love it) but its hella inconsistent what are we gonna do about this. Point 1 is manascrew 20 lands is ok in statuary decks but it hard to be consistent with mulligans. point 2 the danger of fizzle is actually a problem.

February 8, 2017 2:43 p.m.

Scorprix says... #18

I would say it's pretty consistent and doesn't fizzle much, but yea it is a very real problem.

I wish there was more card draw, but I don't really like anticipate that much. Any other good spells you can think of?

February 8, 2017 5:39 p.m.

frogkill45 says... #19

have you tried the Paradox Engine version with Cultivator's Caravan Hedron Archive ?

February 9, 2017 6 p.m.

Scorprix says... #20

No, I have not. That could be interesting, but seems a bit worse as it is slower. Can you link a list? I would love to see that deck in action!

Sram dies to removal almost every game. How would the deck run to drop white altogether and replace Sram, Senior Edificer with Glimmer of Genius?

February 10, 2017 3:21 a.m.

Scorprix says... #23

Sram will always at least cycle, so I would much rather not cut him as if the opponent can't respond to it you will often just win. I haven't tried Glimmer of Genius, I'm going to guess it's mediocre in a list like this, but I'll test it a bit!

February 10, 2017 9:27 a.m.

How do you feel about Glint-Nest Crane? I use it in my mono blue version, which I found out from testing is strictly better than Anticipate. The early body is very useful and it's another card you can bounce with Paradoxical Outcome.

February 11, 2017 11:58 p.m.

Scorprix says... #25

Seems interesting. The problem with crane is it only hits artifacts, and Anticipate is good because it can also be used to dig for a Paradoxical Outcome. I'll test Glint-Nest Crane out though, as it still seems like it might be good. Thanks!

Have you ever played with Sigarda's Aid? I'm a fan of the stack abuse putting out shields and Bone Saws at instant speed.

February 12, 2017 9:10 a.m.

Scorprix says... #27

It just doesn't seem that useful imo. What would it help with exactly?

February 12, 2017 11:58 a.m.

rhcpzephyr says... #28

You abuse the stack with instant speed equipment drops. It increases your healing from aetherflux. For instance: you play 4 bone saws sorcery speed you heal 1+2+3+4=10Instant speed you heal4+4+4+4=16 because they all get put on the stack and when they resolve it counts all the cast triggers. That may not be the most abusive example but it's nice to beef up an ornithopter for free at instant speed too if you're desperate.

February 12, 2017 12:09 p.m.

Scorprix says... #29

Huh, that seems interesting, but I just don't see it working out too effectively. I'll give it a shot though, as there certainly is potential!

February 12, 2017 12:48 p.m.

rhcpzephyr says... #30

Keep me posted on how you like it! I've been toiling with the idea of taking an aetherflux storm to FNM as of late, just to be 'that guy'

February 12, 2017 12:54 p.m.

mrbuech says... #31

What would you think about adding Efficient Construction? The 0-drop artifacts would generate thopters like mad and would force your opponents to deal with the extra threat, give you cheap blockers, and give you an alternate wincon.

February 13, 2017 8:53 a.m.

Peteg413 says... #32

I'm building a RW version of this, but I think you have it right with UW lands being cheaper. I reccomend more 0 and 1 drop spells, there are a total of 3-4 0drop and 4-5 1 drop in standard. Maybe provide an alternate win-con in case you don't draw the Aetherflux? This issue you answered with Whir, which is also cool, but I'd replace Whir with Inventors' Fair, only because 4 mana will have you look for any artifact you need as long as you dropped 3 artifacts already, which is why I would just flood with artifacts and get rid of all the excess card draw (Except Sram)

Overall, Great Deck, don't think much other than Inventors' Fair will help this Awsum deck!

February 13, 2017 10:02 a.m.

Scorprix says... #33

Will do!

I dont't really like it honestly. Seems too win-more.

February 13, 2017 12:37 p.m.

Scorprix says... #34

Shit I didn't see your comment lol. Inventors' Fair seems ok. I'll look into it.

Mrstone says... #35

How about Contraband Kingpin instead of Sram, Senior Edificer?

Contraband Kingpin is just scry, but more defensive then Sram. Non-equipment artifact activate his ablility, so you can find key card efficiently. also his health and lifelink is good

Tezzeret's Touch is also good. You can make plan B by attacking 5/5 creature. When you cast Paradoxical Outcome, you can choose Tezzeret's Touch because it is aura, so you can draw one more. Even if opponent destroy 5/5 creature, you get back artifact in hand.

I would appreciate it if you look at my decklist. UB Aetherflux bomb
