Sideboard

Maybeboard

Hey there all. A deck I have agonised over for quite some time now. Please tell me what you think of it (good and bad) and any suggestions for improving it would be very much appreciated.

This aim of this deck is to rush some early exalted (and ideally some ramp too) until I bring out my powerhouse exalted cards (i.e. Rafiq of the Many, Finest Hour or maybe even Sublime Archangel).

I use Ardent Plea to great effect. Not only do I get a stack of exalted but I am sure to get another cool card giving me ramp (Noble Hierarch), control (Qasali Pridemage), or a very solid attacker (Invisible Stalker). The best part is, if I don't get green early game, so long as I have white and blue mana, Ardent Plea can save my ass.

With my core exalted mechanic implemented, I still had card slots to spare. Rather than trying to build on my exalted for an aggro deck I decided to take a control set up. However, no non-creature spells with CMC lower than 3 due to Ardent Plea (I find it is worth the consistency).

The result? In all the times I've used this deck, it has done splendidly. Either I set up my ideal combination of cards and power through; control their last line of defence for a decisive win; or control their card combos as I stall for the win. It is a very versatile deck that also consistently hits hard. I love it :P.

I have done away with my Terramorphic Expanses and I have revamped my sideboard. Ready/Willing is for some anti-boardwipe, Mark of Asylum and Knight of Glory helps me against R and B respectively, Kira, Great Glass-Spinner is great for tempo or control decks all round, and Rest in Peace is for a friend's golgari scavange deck ;). If you have any tips on what I should put in my sideboard, for my land base, or just anything in general I would be grateful to hear it :)!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and look at my deck :3!

Great thanks to elementalheroflamewingman for the solid suggestions. I spent long and hard thinking about your comment and I could not find a reason not to take your advice. I had used the Steel of the Godhead namely for the lifegain, so I found another stalling card that was suitable for that. I chose Authority of the Consuls over something more aggressive or even ramp simply because I want to cover all bases with this deck allowing it to be versatile (albeit sacrificing consistency or raw power). This card gives the deck lifegain which I want for it, though I am forever open to feedback :)

Main Deck:
-2 Finest Hour
-2 Steel of the Godhead
+2 Wilt-Leaf Liege
+2 Authority of the Consuls
