~ Master Thief

This is a Merieke Ri Berit deck that's more themed around taking control than control itself. While Merieke is popular as a commander that can lead a control deck to victory, this build takes the idea of stealing things to a different, entirely obnoxious, level. As on a basic level I despise blue mages, there are no counterspells, and frankly fairly few cards that could ever be considered anything other than janky af, with the list focusing entirely on three of my favourite areas: Steal, Untap, Profit.

The playstyle is incredibly simple: you just keep on taking control of things and killing them off for value. In the early game, you throw out some unthreatening mana rocks, and some untapping mechanics - letting everyone else paint targets on themselves. In the mid game, start showing off your talent for thievery, preferably locking down the board to the point where everybody is too scared to cast their bombs. Interfere as much as possible. Late game, there are bombs like Grave Betrayal and Mind's Dilation that can turn people's decks against themselves.

There are also some standout cards (In the Ele Giggle category) that do not steal or untap things, but are still excellent and fit in with the theme.

This list is meant to fit within the (fairly tight) budget restrictions of my playgroup, so while you should feel free to give suggestions for obvious inclusions (such as a LOAD of better lands), anything too expensive probably won't end up in the list, although I'm sure that there will be all sorts of interesting in-budget additions that I've overlooked (I'm especially looking for more ways to untap things).

Short little meta-note: A friend of mine has Diaochan, Artful Beauty as their commander, so untapping mechanics can help me out big time even without Merieke Ri Berit in play.
