Mono green EDH deck, focusing on what green does best: big mana and creature toolbox. Nemata is a general that is not often seen but a perfect outlet for ALL THE MANA!

The deck is themed around mana doublers. Combined with some untap effects (card:eartcraft is one of my all time favourites), mana production tends to go over the top! If you like to Genesis Wave for 20+ and tap lands for 30 mana, you might enjoy the deck!

I would also like to improve the deck. Love to get feedback and suggestions. Possible areas of improvement I‘d like to explore: win cons that do not rely on combat, getting the right balance between ramp/draw and active cards. I also noticed that the deck lacks synergy at the moment. A number of useful effects rely on creatures (like card draw or tutoring with Survival of the Fittest... but I don’t play that much creatures. Upping the creature count will probably improve the deck. Thanks in advance!

Nemata Show

Nemata, Grove Guardian is a 4/5 treefolk for cmc=6. But that's not why we run him :-)

The strength of Nemata lies in it's synergistic abilities. For , he creates a 1/1 saproling token. To be honest, that's not a great rate for a 1/1 token. However, the tokens can be produced at instant speed and do not require Nemata to tap. The amount of tokens that can be produced depend only on the amount of mana that we can devote to it. Given the amount of mana doublers we run, making a high amount of saproling tokens is quite easy.

The second ability of Nemata is how we can kill people out of nowhere. Every sacrificed saproling boosts the whole team by +1/+1. If you attack an opponent that has 5 blockers with 10 saprolings, you can sacrifice the blocked saprolings to enhance the unblocked ones. In this example, you would deal 25 damage to the defending player... not even taking into account the additional saprolings that can be produced and sacrificed at instant speed. With Nemata, we usually kill an opponent in one attack.

Nemata, Grove Guardian is the deck's main finisher. The cards in the 99 provide ramp, answers, card draw and tutoring, in order to set up deadly Nemata turns. This is not a saproling tribal list. Nemata is used as a wincon, not a tribal commander. A few cards in the list make or interact with saprolings, but that is because they are good on their own and not because of tribal synergies.

Lands Show

The best lands in the deck are basic forests. A significant number of your mana doublers care about the forest land type. The deck could run perfectly on basic forests only. I added a few lands that can fetch more forests (Myriad Landscape and Blighted Woodland) and an ancient tomb because I had one.

Mana doublers Show

Some of the mana doublers will also benefit your opponents (Keeper of Progenitus, Vernal Bloom, Extraplanar Lens, Gauntlet of Power). This is not a bad thing, as they will almost always be more beneficial to us due to the high amount of basic forests. On top of this, they tend to be lower cmc and a bit less likely to be blown up immediately. I do not run cards like Dictate of Karametra on purpose. We want mana doublers that benefit us _more _than our opponents, and group hug cards don't do that.
