Azorius contains my two favorite colors to play, and I love control more than any other style in Magic. So this is the Azorius standard deck I have concocted without Sphinx's Revelation and Supreme Verdict. Detention Sphere, Azorius Charm, and Render Silent would also be nice in here.

I'm wondering if some life-gain would be good to make up for some of the early game damage. I don't know what spells do both life-gain while maintaining another effect that would fit this deck. Maybe Nyx-Fleece Ram? Also, where might I add End Hostilities?

I went 1-1 against two separate Jeskai decks online, but that's not where I want this deck to be. I would like it to be a top 8 deck at FNMs.

Please give me feedback; this is my first standard azorius deck that I actually plan on using. Advice would be greatly appreciated, especially in regard to getting the quicker finish that AEtherling guaranteed, keeping a wider range of things off the board for a cheaper cost, and the sideboard. Thanks!

Game 1: I kept most of his major threats off the board except Altar of the Brood, and I was able to swing with the three Elspeth tokens and Resolute Archangel for the win.

Game 2: This one came down to the wire, but I Banishing Lighted two Altar of the Brood from him, and after Phenax, God of Deception hit the board, I played End Hostilities into two Prognostic Sphinxes to swing for the remaining 6 damage. (I had sided in an extra sphinx and a Pearl Lake Ancient, the first sphinx having swung him to 7.)
