Azorius Aggro-Control Standard

Standard Aggro Arena Control WU (Azorius)

cornpie987387

This is the deck I am currently using on Arena.

Basically, this deck makes use of cards that counter the majority of decks seen on MTG arena, while using History of Benalia to maintain card and creature advantage.

Aggro Our aggro is made up of History of Benalia , which just gives amazing value.
Adanto Vanguard which is hard to remove, this is in response to Cleanseing Nova and Kaya's Wrath . Burn cards like Shock also comes to mind.
Benalish Marshal which coupled with History of Benalia makes our first strike creatures competitive Sunhome Stalwart and Danitha Capashen, Paragon . Legion's Landing   gives us a first play as well as a mana and creature generation if you get the attack off. This is valuable source of chumps for use with Metamorphic Alteration and Switcheroo .

Shalai, Voice of Plenty gives us hexprof and helps protect Benalish Marshal from burn. It will also protect Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants and Dovin, Grand Arbiter from Varaska's Contempt which is run in most black decks.

Siren Stormtamer helps protect from Dimir discard strategies early and can protect Benalish Marshal and Sunhome Stalwart from removal. It is also notable that it counters abilities, so it can even protect from Seal Away . If your opponent is not running removal and cant generate blue, I consider this card a chump to swap with Switcheroo or use Metamorphic Alteration on.

Metamorphic Alteration adds alot of situational effectiveness to this deck. Fighting burn decks I have copied Adanto Vanguard , or a copy of Benalish Marshal can also yield great effect. It doubles as removal, you can easily cast this on an opponents Rekindling Phoenix and change it into that 1/1 vampire with lifelink. If you feel like you can use an opponents card to a greater effect, it can go that way too and you can grab a copy of Muldrotha, the Gravetide for only one mana and a token.

Switcheroo allows for us to steal the opponents late game win con. This can be particularly effective against legendary creatures and the occasional 20/20 Ajani Pridemate.

Send to Sleep has great synergy with Dovin, Grand Arbiter it also serves as a potential win con.

Tocatli Honor Guard counters those pesky Merfolk decks as well as pesky cards like Goblin Chainwhirler and Ravenous Chupacabra .

Essence Capture works as removal while buffing our first strike creatures.

River's Rebuke is a great help like Sleep but also deals with artifact or enchantment heavy decks.

Warkite Marauder is a counter to walls with defender commonly seen in Izzet and makes Dovin, Grand Arbiter first loyalty easier to proc.

Dovin, Grand Arbiter is a great source of card draw, chumps.
Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants has a wonderful -7, can bring some creatures back and makes our first strike creatures more competitive.
Crush Contraband is great removal and necessary to deal with some decks that use enchantments as there win con. Cards like Captive Audience and Helm of the Host . I might swap this for Invoke the Divine for its cost and lifegain.
Depose / Deploy is rather straightforward, but can give a sizable increase in life + chumps or draw and a tap.

Conclusion This fairs very well against most decks. The most common deck it has trouble with is gate decks. It usually comes down to if/if not you manage to counter there Gates Ablaze with Siren Stormtamer or enchant there Gate Colossus with Metamorphic Alteration .

Vampire decks usually lose because we take/copy there legendary creature of the greatest threat.

We win against Merfolk most of the time depending on if we get Tocatli Honor Guard or manage to take enough of them out with first strike before they stack.

We win against Izzet instant/sourcery graveyard strategist most of the time as we usually get either Adanto Vanguard or a Siren Stormtamer to deal with burn in the early game and disable/steal there one Enigma Drake .

We usually manage to get enough creatures through hard blue control decks thanks to History of Benalia , so we beat those most of the time.

Boros solider decks are a tossup, because of cards like Defeaning Clarion. A good number of our creatures usually have first strike so if they are light on removal we win.

Mill decks usually cant hold back History of Benalia with walls alone so they usually lose. River's Rebuke makes the enchantment route hard for them as well.

We are weak against monogreen. Hopefully you managed enough damage in the early game to win with Sleep .

Other azorius aggro decks come down to mana. If we get enough mana to pull of River's Rebuke or Sleep in critical moments, we win.

Red aggro is only a problem if they have Siege-Gang Commander . If you attack enough you can mitigate the risk.

Those are the majority of deck types this deck faces. If you have any suggestions let me know!
