Hello! Welcome to my version of an Azami, Lady of Scrolls EDH/Commander deck! I have been playing and updating this deck for over two years and I am still modifying it to make it perfect. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to leave me one! Without further ado, let's get started. I would greatly appreciate any tips/advice!
Azami is a unique mono blue commander as it does one thing extremely well; this deck draws a lot of cards! Azami does not seem extremely powerful at first glance, however, it is extremely easy to ancestral recall at the end of an opponents turn and be able to do that consistently. This deck allows for a solid mono blue control shell while having defensive options to stall until one of your win conditions it met. For these reasons, Azami is a unique and fun commander to play!
This version of Azami has multiple win conditions just in case the main combo gets interrupted. The main combo of this deck is resolving Omniscience then proceeding to draw your entire deck via countless wizards and some kind of untap engine Once you draw your deck, before you draw your last card, simply resolve Laboratory Maniac and you win! This combo is extremely common among blue players, therefore, your opponents will attempt to disrupt it at all cost, so make sure you can resolve the entire combo, or else you might end up fizzling out or dying to your own combo. The other win condition with this deck is getting Paradox Engine or Mind Over Matter and winning with combat damage. With the various amounts of control and card draw, you should be able to have a fairly strong win rate to the dismay of your play group or table.
As far as the creatures go for the deck, each one has a specific purpose and, generally, provides a lot of utility in addition to simply drawing cards via Azami. Special shoutout to Patron Wizard as it turns all of your wizards into force spike on a stick and that is a very powerful effect that should not be underestimated.
The spells for this deck are mostly mono-blue staple cards that just have good value and aid in controlling and dictating how the game is played out. Various counterspells, bounce spells, and removal, aid in your plan of not dying to basically any big board state of creatures.
This deck is meant to be powerful, but by no means is complete. My description will continue to be updated, as well as the cards within the descriptions. This version of the deck is not budget, but maybe is competitive. The maybe board of this deck is reserved for either expensive cards that I do not yet own or cards that will be tested in the future to see if they need to be added. Thank you for looking at my deck and if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, let me know!
