Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim - EDH - Budget Build

Commander / EDH*

Stardew_Vale

This is an Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim budget build, personally created and playtested to mantein the total cost between 35 and 40. Keep in mind that this deck should always be played very politically (a thing that i like a lot) and, even if we have a lot of life gain, we never want to be 1v1 with someone if we don't have the right cards to win instantly or if we don't have total control of the board. Infact, the aim of this deck is to constantly control the board by removing all kind of permanents (except lands). We can exile non-land permanents using Ayli's second ability, but we have to make shure we have enought life to do this: there are many cards that can make us gain life when other creatures enter the battlefield (Soul's warden, solus'attendant...), when creatures leave the battlefield (falkenrath noble, blood artist...) or that can make us gain life every upkeep, every time we attack or by using the extort mechanic (agent of masks, cliffhaven vampire, blind obedience...) while also draining our opponents' life total. Then, we have to use our token generators to have creatures to sacrifice, either using Ayli's first and second ability or other cards (fleshbag marauder, barter in blood...) and combine these with cards that amplify the value of the sacrifice ability, as butcher of malakir, to remove even indestructible or hexeproof creature. We have to constantly mantein card advantage so we can be ready to answer to every action and we can be always shure to have enought lands - a big problem in a deck without green; we also have a little bit of mana fixing in the form of mana rocks and dual lands tt will make the deck work just fine - and to do this we have many draw engines that use a little bit of our life (we will always be well above 40) to give us cards paying only a little bit of mana. We also have some pretty big beaters (which are always valuable creatures), mainly in the forn of flyers, and we have some very powerful cards (debt to the deathless always makes everyone swear) that can give a huge boost to our game (sorin is just very powerful and versatile in this deck, worth the money). There are three exile-based board wipes if someone is doing some extremely crazy shit and we can't answer to everything, but use them carefully. There is also a little bit of graveyard recursion, mainly to re-use some key combo pieces. Felidar Sovereign is here because... yes. It is very hard to win with this card, but it can be done if used at proper time.
