This deck is designed specifically to work in my semi-casual EDH playgroup. What you need to know about our house rules:

  • Free-for-all Multiplayer
  • No Commander Damage
  • Infinite Combos are frowned upon

Description

Simplest of strategies: Ramp, Play Uril, the Miststalker, Enchant with lots of Auras, Win by beat down. Now originally I made this deck for 1 v 1 games, something I now play very rarely. In Multiplayer it still did well often winning in a single strike because of the Commander damage rule. However as mentioned above my playgroup no longer plays with Commander damage because several of us made decks built around that win condition and it made games considerably shorter. It also made a friend's Life gain deck obsolete. So as a group we decided to make games longer and more enjoyable by ridding ourselves of that particular rule. Despite the rule change this deck still does well. Winning in 2 attacks is still do-able and considered fairer by the playgroup.

When I first created the deck it had far fewer creatures, Uril was the only one I really needed. However back then Commanders could be sent to the bottom of the library which just wrecked this deck. So I added more creatures in case Uril became indisposed. Although that rule has been revised I kept a number of creatures since they help in other ways. Card draw (Mesa Enchantress + Verduran Enchantress), Mana Ramp (Sakura-Tribe Elder + Oracle of Mul Daya), Bringing stuff back from the grave (Sun Titan + Eternal Witness) or just being a good target for auras (Thrun, the Last Troll + Kor Spiritdancer). To keep the deck going we have plenty of card draw such as Enchantress's Presence or Argothian Enchantress and tutors like Enlightened Tutor, Idyllic Tutor and my favourite Three Dreams. Of course we have a bit of removal and control in the forms of Winds of Rath, Oblivion Ring, Prison Term and Acidic Slime.

Conclusion

I welcome any comments, questions and suggestions. Please keep it civil and keep any criticism constructive.
