Description

My take on a modern mono-white aura deck.

Feedback and/or +1's would be lovely. (:

Also sideboard help would be awesome.

Updates

Updated the sideboard a bit. Built this on Magic Online, plays really well and consistent in casual games. Can't wait to try this out in a Tournament, I know it'll probably be stomped by more dominant archetypes (Modular, Ramp-drazi etc) but I'm sure it'll be fun nevertheless. (:

Haven't looked at the deck, but the name alone deserves a +1. Especially since that is how half of the population where I'm from would actually pronounce 'orgasm.'

Now that I'm looking at it, why no Sigil of the Empty ThroneMTG Card: Sigil of the Empty Throne? That card is a win condition in itself.

April 4, 2012 2:40 a.m.

STG says... #3

Haha, thank you. (:

And interesting... Would I make that a 1 or 2-of in the deck if I were to add it?

April 4, 2012 2:48 a.m.

Sagi007 says... #4

dont know if u actually need it but what bout AuramancerMTG Card: Auramancer to get destroyed enchantments back?

April 4, 2012 3:14 a.m.

STG says... #5

AuramancerMTG Card: Auramancer is a bit too slow for my liking, and Nomad MythmakerMTG Card: Nomad Mythmaker does that job and better anyway. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Two Sigil of the Empty ThroneMTG Card: Sigil of the Empty Throne. No Curse of ExhaustionMTG Card: Curse of Exhaustion? I think you ought to frustrate your opponent a bit more.

If you're doing mono-white Emeria, The Sky RuinMTG Card: Emeria, The Sky Ruin seems like it would be a good include as a 1 or 2-of.

April 4, 2012 10:17 a.m.

metalmagic says... #8

I definitely think 2. That is a card you want to see, and if you happen to draw both, well you pretty much win.

April 4, 2012 12:19 p.m.

asuraofcards says... #9

+1 because I played kor spirit dancer in standard back in the day and SUCH a great name. Greater AuramancyMTG Card: Greater Auramancy makes it so your creatures can only have one aura each just sayin.

Also, my favorite of all auras (Cho-Manno's BlessingMTG Card: Cho-Manno's Blessing) was not included :C just be careful picking white!

@ Theophilus + metalmagic

Alright, thank you for the suggestion of Sigil of the Empty ThroneMTG Card: Sigil of the Empty Throne. I'll put 2 of them in and see how they go in playtests. (:

As for the Curse of ExhaustionMTG Card: Curse of Exhaustion, that sounds more like a sideboard card for aggro. My question is though, would I use that or Ghostly PrisonMTG Card: Ghostly Prison instead? They're both quite good at slowing my opponent down.

@MarkBGH

I'm not sure. In my experience running mono-white, I've never actually reached the point where I have 7 plains on the field to make use of Emeria, The Sky RuinMTG Card: Emeria, The Sky Ruin's effect. I'll consider it, but it may not suit how quick I want the deck to run.

@asuraofcards

Thank you. (:

And hm, I might drop that down to a 2-of. Thanks for pointing that out. Thats a tad annoying haha.

Thank you for all your feedback so far!

This deck runs too fast for most of the cards in the 4-5 mana range. You could replace them with some cool one-drops and Blessing of the NephilimMTG Card: Blessing of the Nephilim (I'm thinking of Nip GwyllionMTG Card: Nip Gwyllion, Boros RecruitMTG Card: Boros Recruit, Figure of DestinyMTG Card: Figure of Destiny, Zealous GuardianMTG Card: Zealous Guardian, and sideboard Elvish HexhunterMTG Card: Elvish Hexhunter. Also, some other cool one-drop auras are:Edge of the DivinityMTG Card: Edge of the Divinity (for use with Nip GwyllionMTG Card: Nip Gwyllion)Gift of GraniteMTG Card: Gift of Granite (to surprise some attackers/blockers/damage)Genju of the FieldsMTG Card: Genju of the Fields (could be good, I guess)Holy StrengthMTG Card: Holy Strength (its pretty good)LifelinkMTG Card: Lifelink (because you won't have many creatures, its important that you gain life as a pseudo-blocker)

Thats my advise, +1 for the name!

STG says... #12

@mtuchler

That was actually the one aim of this deck when I first thought of making it: to be really fast and become big really quickly.

I've taken out the Sigil of the Empty ThroneMTG Card: Sigil of the Empty Throne again because I playtested it heaps and I only got it to work once while playtesting. I also removed Autumn-Tail, Kitsune SageMTG Card: Autumn-Tail, Kitsune Sage because while nice and providing an awesome effect, I never really enchanted him once he got out and chose to further enchant the Kor SpiritdancerMTG Card: Kor Spiritdancer or Mirran CrusaderMTG Card: Mirran Crusader. I've put in 3 Nip GwyllionMTG Card: Nip Gwyllion like you suggested because I needed a 1-drop creature.

Hopefully with these changes it will become a more faster deck. (:

April 4, 2012 11:35 p.m.

crixalis says... #13

I believe you need some more creatures to enchant, cheap creatures that must be able to grow fast.Elite VanguardMTG Card: Elite Vanguard for example, a couple of them, pumped by the auras may win the game by theirselves

April 5, 2012 12:12 a.m.

Is there a particular reason you're using Nip GwyllionMTG Card: Nip Gwyllion isntead of Serra AscendantMTG Card: Serra Ascendant? I think it'd be stronger in this deck, myself.

April 5, 2012 11:47 a.m.

VuduChild says... #15

I'd cut Mesa EnchantressMTG Card: Mesa Enchantress for something cheaper, like Vault SkirgeMTG Card: Vault Skirge or another one drop. You have a bunch of cheap auras, but only Nip GwyllionMTG Card: Nip Gwyllion as a 1-drop creature. Another four 1-drops would really help you get an aggressive start.

April 5, 2012 1 p.m.

MightyPirate says... #16

Swap Hyena Umbra for Armored Ascension! Ascension is a BEAST late game in a mono white deck. On Mirran Crusader you can be swinging for 10 on turn 5. If you're looking for a good 1-drop then consider Student of WarfareMTG Card: Student of Warfare.

Edge of the DivinityMTG Card: Edge of the Divinity is for Nip GwyllionMTG Card: Nip Gwyllion. My above comment lists a bunch of cards that would go well to make the deck more aggressive.

Blessing of the NephilimMTG Card: Blessing of the Nephilim (I'm thinking of Nip GwyllionMTG Card: Nip Gwyllion, Boros RecruitMTG Card: Boros Recruit, Figure of DestinyMTG Card: Figure of Destiny, Zealous GuardianMTG Card: Zealous Guardian, and sideboard Elvish HexhunterMTG Card: Elvish Hexhunter)

Also, some other cool one-drop auras are:

Edge of the DivinityMTG Card: Edge of the Divinity (for use with Nip GwyllionMTG Card: Nip Gwyllion)

Gift of GraniteMTG Card: Gift of Granite (to surprise some attackers/blockers/damage)

Genju of the FieldsMTG Card: Genju of the Fields (could be good, I guess)

Holy StrengthMTG Card: Holy Strength (its pretty good)

LifelinkMTG Card: Lifelink (because you won't have many creatures, its important that you gain life as a pseudo-blocker)

I know Guardian's MagemarkMTG Card: Guardian's Magemark is subpar, but it has a nice boost and also fits the theme well. Personally I'd go bant for things like Sovereigns of Lost AlaraMTG Card: Sovereigns of Lost Alara, which is fun, especially when coupled with Eldrazi ConscriptionMTG Card: Eldrazi Conscription. If you do got bant, you might wanna check out Infiltrator's MagemarkMTG Card: Infiltrator's Magemark.

P.S. I haven't actually read the other comments, so if you've explained why you really don't want to splash or something, forgive me.

I know this doesnt really help with the deck. though everyone is give great ideas. But i was just looking and doesnt the girl of Angelic DestinyMTG Card: Angelic Destiny, look alot like Thalia, Guardian of ThrabenMTG Card: Thalia, Guardian of Thraben sisters maybe?? and check out my deck i think its pretty solid, looking for some tweaks that keep theme if you can think of any In The Name of the King

@DeliciousToast

Very true. I even own a playset of them. Why didn't I think of that? Haha, thank you.

@VuduChild

Hm. Personally, I like Mesa EnchantressMTG Card: Mesa Enchantress - especially when you've got her and Kor SpiritdancerMTG Card: Kor Spiritdancer on the field - because she nets a massive draw amount which is pretty important for aggro and their cheap drops. I may sideboard something in her place if I want a quicker game, but for now I'd like to keep her mainboarded.

@MightyPirate

... And I think your suggestion may be my sideboard card for when that happens. Thank you for suggesting Student of WarfareMTG Card: Student of Warfare. (:

However I find Hyena UmbraMTG Card: Hyena Umbra to be a very important card in the deck. Armored AscensionMTG Card: Armored Ascension does work REALLY well in mono-white though. I'll see what I can do...

@buffy

While a very awesome card, it may be a bit out of my cmc range to play it. :<

@mtuchler

That is a very nice list you brought to my attention. (:

Out of the list I'd probably consider LifelinkMTG Card: Lifelink and Holy StrengthMTG Card: Holy Strength the most because I would like to keep it mono coloured and the rest really benefits dual colours. Thank you though!

@theobjection

Thank you for you suggestions, I would however like to just keep it mono coloured for speed efficiency (I hate being mana screwed) and just to fit the theme. (:

@user:Logan%20Pitt

Hah. Interesting observation! I'll have a look at your deck when I get the chance. I must get off the computer now for my girlfriend!

DisenchantMTG Card: Disenchant Sideboard card

SilenceMTG Card: Silence This can be your counter for Aura BarbsMTG Card: Aura Barbs

Landbind RitualMTG Card: Landbind Ritual Another GREAT mono-white card. Probably the biggest life gaining card you could use. Sideboard.

You may also consider some lands with Cycling like Secluded SteppeMTG Card: Secluded Steppe. They're useful for those occasions where you really don't need another land. (But, if you're running Armored Ascension and Landbind Ritual then don't bother, land is you friend in any occasion).

RebelCow says... #29

Ive playtested this deck a few times, and I REALLY like its ability to get big fast. However, my burn deck took it down several times in a row due to really fast spell damage. Im not sure how one would go about stopping that in a mono-white, but I'd definitely suggest getting some anti-burn stuff in there, if you ever play anyone with a burn :P sorry, Im a little new to Magic, or I'd recommend some cards for the job. Maybe add Swiftfoot BootsMTG Card: Swiftfoot Boots? Here's the deck that beat it, if youre curious: Dragon's Breath

April 6, 2012 9:44 a.m.

MightyPirate says... #30

SilenceMTG Card: Silence and Landbind RitualMTG Card: Landbind Ritual would do wonders for stopping a burn deck.

April 6, 2012 12:52 p.m.

Actually, SilenceMTG Card: Silence and Landbind RitualMTG Card: Landbind Ritual won't do anything against a burn deck. Against Silence, they can cast everything in response and LBR gives life but not your dead creatures back, which in this case is the real problem. Against burn just sideboard WorshipMTG Card: Worship and Silver KnightMTG Card: Silver Knight, that will REALLY stop them dead in their tracks. Maybe Silver Knight alone is sufficient (w/ Angelic Destiny and such).

If you need additional sideboard ideas, I recommend Wrath of GodMTG Card: Wrath of God and ArmageddonMTG Card: Armageddon for nearly every white deck. The first one is against Elves and Goblins which are just faster than you, no matter what you do. Just don't play creatures, Wrath on turn 4 and then do what your deck does. Armageddon is against Combo and Control decks: Play a creature, make huge with auras, Armageddon, win.

I playtestes a little and was short on lands on several occasions. Maybe play 23 or 24 lands, just to be on the safe side. If you fear drawing too many lands, add 2 Secluded SteppeMTG Card: Secluded Steppe.

Furthermore, Daybreak CoronetMTG Card: Daybreak Coronet is super awesome, but I was stuck with multiple copies in hand and no other auras (except for Pacifism -_-). Maybe switch Greater Auramancy for some more good auras. People have suggested enough good ones :)

As a last suggestion, I'd cut some of the more expensive cards (casting cost 4-5) for more creatures with cc 1 and 2. What really makes this deck tick is playing creatures on turn 1-3 and then aura'ing them up on turn 4. But if there are no creatures around...

Hope I could help a little :)If you like my suggestions, feel free to check out and comment on my 3 decks: W/B Aggro-control, Burning Darkslide, RUB 'Tog

Ghostly PrisonMTG Card: Ghostly Prison is definitely in. (:

April 22, 2012 11:08 p.m.

Timmmmey says... #37

Try putting one mana cost he proof creatures in the mainboard to stop burn decks, and consider splashing green for good cheap auras like rancor

March 15, 2016 5:05 p.m.

I would suggest that you replace Mesa Enchantress with Sram, Senior Edificer since he is slightly faster at 2 cmc, but still draws for you with all but three of your enchantments. Also, he is a 2/2 as opposed to a 0/2 which is a bonus.
