Please provide feedback on how to improve this deck

This is my version of an Atraxa, Praetors' Voice EDH deck.

When Commander 2016 was spoiled, I wanted to make an Atraxa deck right away. Atraxa is a cool creature with amazing art. She seems like she could be built a variety of ways, so I decided to go with a stax like route. Here is my take.

Gameplan and Strategy

My version of Atraxa aims to utilize are variety of stax elements in order to control the game. It then uses either its walkers, critters, or a combo to win the game.

Birds of Paradise is definitely needed, its the ultimate mana fixing outside of a land that taps for anything. I would drop Mage-Ring Network for a Reflecting Pool. A Tooth and Nail/Chord of Calling seems like it would fit in here too since its an easy tutor (albeit high costing, but entwined its "search for 2 creatures and put them pn the field"). Attrition doesnt really have a place in here since you dont have many creatures and you dont have many reliable ways of making them unless you always tutor for a Bitterblossom with your black tutors. Maybe a couple more counterspells? when i tested this, Contagion Engine was always a dead card in hand, there was always something id rather play over it. Mana Leak may have a spot in here. if you increase the number of instants and sorceries, maybe add a Sphinx of the Final Word

I just love who all this stax aspects make you feel the crippling chill of Pharexia. The slow profilerate elements taking over in the long game are the bone freezing icing on top of that.

Normaly I'm more into a well oiled machine than into story elements in decks but but this decks leaves black, glimmering stains on everything it touches. Long lives Pharexia's perfection!

You can keep an easy stasis lock with pentad prism or gemstone array thanks to the proliferate of your commander

Strionic Resonator synergizes with Atraxa and cards like Oath of Jace, Tangle Wire or In the Eye of Chaos. Have you considred that card?
Mage-Ring Network is suboptimal indeed, Dreadship Reef or Saltcrusted Steppe are strictly better.
Since your deck relies on having a powerful board state, it seems logical to include some proctection against cards that mess with that, maybe Swan Song or Pact of Negation.
If you want to include any more stax pieces, Static Orb, Cursed Totem, Torpor Orb and Hokori, Dust Drinker would be my suggestions.

Thanks for the feedback Emzed, Drawando, Purtagio, and Athraithe. I have updated the decklist taking into account your suggestions.

Purtagio : I do agree this deck is very thematic. It is also, IMO, pretty good too.

Drawando : I am considering a stasis lock using something like you mentioned. I am running into the issue of there being so many possibilities for the deck. I side benefit of Dreadship Reef and Saltcrusted Steppe is that they can be extracted for mana even when tapped, as long as you can get from somewhere.

If Dreadship Reef and Saltcrusted Steppe work out fine in testing, you could also add Calciform Pools. I only suggested two of those lands initially, but upon further consideration they seem really great in this deck, so maybe running all 3 that fit into your colors is good.
Btw, i saw Ichor Rats already on your maybe list. That card seems like a solid win condition if you can lock down the board with an active Atraxa. You pay 3 mana once, then all you have to do is wait for proliferate to do its job.

The best prison Commander is Grand Arbiter Augustin IV.

I think atraxa makes an awesome super-friends commander, but i feel like your inclusion of so many pillow fort cards will cause you to draw into a lot of "non-bo"s

Personally i feel like you would be doing better to run 30-40 planeswalkers with your doubling season. Some good deck manipulation, mana acceleration, spot and mass removal. and some super synergistic cards like The Chain Veil, Deploy the Gatewatch. Then a proliferate package, something like Contagion Clasp Contagion Engine and Inexorable Tide. A handful of creatures to protect your planeswalkers is good, for example, a simple Silent Arbiter together with your commander is awesome for planeswalker protection, and why not something like Ghostly Prison, that has no negative effects on you... but really you should be more focused on planeswalkers that can protect themselves, instead of fighting your own prison pieces.

Sometimes less is more, the less things you are trying to do, the more synergy your deck has.

I also want to Tell you, Wrath of God is a fine card. but Supreme Verdict is strictly better.

30-40 planeswalkers?! How is that supposed to work? Also, the number of existing planeswalkers that are actually good enough for a deck like this isn't even that high. Deploy the Gatewatch is just a bad card, unless you actually have 40+ planeswalkers in your deck, which you shouldn't.
The way i see it (and already got to experience myself), Atraxa works well with stax elements because she (it?) creates incremental value. That matters most when you can stall the game for a while.

I also agree that Atraxa makes a very potent commander in a Stax deck. While she does require an extensive (and expensive) mana base in order operate with some speed, that diversity also allows her to use the best of many colors.

Take Contamination: This card will wreck all non-black decks and black is also pretty bad at enchantment removal, meaning that black itself is unlikely to be able to deal with Contamination. It does require you to have a source of critters to feed it, but I believe I have that (Bitterblossom, Orochi Hatchery, Ghave, Guru of Spores, and Elspeth, Sun's Champion and some of the other walkers). Another example of a strong synergy with Atraxa is Parallax Tide and Parallax Wave. With Atraxa, I can keep both of these in play indefinitely as long as keep enough fade counters on them.

Astaxa. I like this deck a lot (even though I have a disdain for stax) +1

Also, how good is Necroskitter in Atraxa, Praetors' Voice in general? I thought about tinkering with it, but finding efficient ynergies outside of Black Sun's Zenith has proven difficult.

My friend is talking about building an atraxa and adding ichor rats, it might go well with the stacks. with Ichor rats deadeye navigator or eldrazi displacer you can blink them in and out and give everyone infect then proliferate all but yours and put everyone ahead of you by one. It might go well with stacks to since you'll control the board and only need to keep atraxa alive.

Sick deck man, sick deck. My suggestions are Descent into Madness, Inkmoth Nexus, and Tamiyo, the Moon Sage. Have fun with this filth...

Thank you for the feedback. I have updated the deck.

I took out Necroskitter as there was not as strong a synergy with it in the deck. I added in both Tamyios, as they do seem like they would make good additions and have strong ultimates. Did some other tweaks.

Aether Hub? Energy is a counter on a player, so you can proliferate it. Provided you don't use the energy from that land the turn you play it, you can be guaranteed that land will be able to tap for any color every turn.

As for your "30-40 walkers, how is that supposed to work?" Comment. The answer is, very well. I run 31. 32 if you count Jace, Vryn's Prodigy. It works very well. But it's also a completely different type of deck. You're running a stacks build, not a walker control build.
