Atraxa, extra nutty, hold the Infect.

Commander / EDH

AcidPunch

Have a conscience and don't like playing Infect? Want to play a deck that puts your questionably-sized dice collection to use? Do you love seeing strong card synergy? Do you never play red? Perfect. Here's my Atraxa deck, built to Breed Lethality, fuel combos, and win games. all without those cheatsy poison counters, because you and I are honorable folk. We respect life totals.

Removed:

Creatures: Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons, Azor's Elocutors, Chasm Skulker, and Dragonlord Dromoka.

Instants & Sorceries: Mouth / Feed and Open Into Wonder

Enchantments: Nest of Scarabs

Artifacts: Aetherflux Resevoir

Lands: Myriad Landscape

Hapatra and Nest of Scarabs were part of a -1/-1 counter subtheme I was going with because I had decided I didn't have enough interaction with the enemies board. Hapatra was nice by herself, and Nest of Scarabs was nice support but there wasn't enough all around in the deck to support Nest, and I took out Hapatra in favor of something with the exact same mana cost that supported the rest of the deck. Mouth to Feed was nice, as well as Open Into Wonder for their own reasons, but truthfully they didn't necessarily do enough with the deck to justify keeping them. Aetherflux Resevoir was purely there so that I could put the infinite life from Archangel and Spike Feeder to a direct win condition, and truthfully that's all it was good for. Azor's was a win con in of itself, but was the frequent and consistent target of spot removal, and it has to wait for an entire turn cycle to even begin forming any sort of win con.

Added:

Creatures: Hangarback Walker and Winding Constrictor

Planeswalkers: Jace, Unraveler of Secrets; Nissa, Voice of Zendikar; Ob Nixilis

Reignited; Kiora, the Crashing Wave; Kiora, Master of the Depths

Artifacts: Hedron Archive

Lands: Rogue's Passage

Hangarback Walker is almost identical to Chasm Skulker but uses mana to come in huge similar to Endless One and creates flying 1/1's compared to Chasm Skulkers even more finicky Islandwalk 1/1's. Hangarback is just more versitile and does more when it dies. Planeswalkers, because planeswalkers; and due to the recent rule change regarding them, I wasn't worried about throwing in another Jace and Nissa with the two Kiora's that I had been holding on to for a while. I was always afraid of having multiple planeswalkers with the same subtype because they always felt like dead cards in my hand. Now that they adhere only to the Legend rule, and since this is a singleton format anyway, I'm not afraid to go superfriends with this deck. I bought Secrets Jace, Voice of ZeNissa, and Ob Ignited for really cheap since they just rotated out of standard, so I would recommend picking up one or a few if they've been on your list for a while. The Nissa of course goes very well in a counters deck and was essentially an automatic include, so if you're building anything close to a counter's theme, you're doing something wrong if she's not close to the top of your planeswalkers to include. Jace is just good card draw, and I'm looking at getting Ingenius Mind-Mage as well. Cunning Castaway looks fun, but really doesn't seem like a good walker here, even with a low mana cost. Perhaps if I do go truely Superfriends, he'll make the cut.

For now, though, I might make another deck that's straight up nasty to other players instead of being so passive and focused on building up what you have. Sure, once they run out of answers for your stuff, things get out of hand quick and you'll win, but nothing beats taking a commanding lead in Commander and seeing it through to victory. Thinking of going with Ramos as the commander instead honestly, because five colors for this deck is difficult, but incredible in it's potential. I don't expect to see a great amount of red being used in that deck particularly if it's present at all, and in fact I fairly well expect to see a more predominantly green and blue color favor in that deck as well. There's just tons of counter support in Simic, and it gets better when you expand to Bant, but there's enough in each color and covering each base is going to give you a lot more power.
