This deck is my commander variant of death and taxes. It was a lot of fun to put together, and has been a lot of fun to play with and against (at least in my opinion).

I should start off by saying that this deck does not have an infinite win combo. This deck looks to either attack for the win, or use Aetherflux Reservoir to kill its opponents. If you prefer an infinite win combo deck, check out my Thrasios landfall mill, or my Slimefoot sack decks.

I have organized the cards in this deck into a few categories: Draw, Removal, Recursion, Lock/Taxes, Ramp, Protection, and Buff.

I will only really talk about Lock/Taxes, as it is the central theme of this deck, and how this deck uses and abuses it. A lot of the other cards are self explanatory anyways.

Lock/Taxes: The goal of this part is to make cards so expensive that your opponent cannot play them, or prevent it by other means. This deck ramps mana fast, so by turn 3, you usually have enough mana to drop some cards that will keep your opponent from casting multiple spells per turn. I run two cards that increase the cost (Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Vryn Wingmare). These only increase the cost of noncreature spells, which misses the majority of the spells in this deck. If you don't want to pay this though, there are lots of sack outlets that you can use to kill them and then bring them back. More on that later. There are considerably more lock cards in this deck. Eidolon of Rhetoric andcard:Ethersworn Cannonist each decrease the number of spells that can be cast each turn. Aven Mindcensor prevents opponents from searching for useful responses, and Spirit of the Labyrinth prevents opponents from drawing them.

Athreos, God of Passage is essential to this deck and the lock part because he helps you to avoid the negative effects of your cards. Sack outlets likeAshnod's Altar, Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim, and Vampiric Rites hep turn these locks into mana, draw, or life, while then forcing an oppenent to put it back into your hand or pay three life. After you are done using your turn, simply bring them back with the many recursion cards, if they were in the graveyard, or play them from your hand. Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle is undoubtedly the most useful card for this, since this deck is chock full of Historic cards, and all of the key lock/taxes creatures cost 3 or less.

That is really all you need to get started with this deck. I am very open to suggestions, especially ones that would reduce the cost of this deck, both in terms of price and CMC. My goal was to have a CMC of less than 3, but I have been less than successful on that front.
