Athreos, God of Passage makes for a ton of fun when paired with a bunch of creatures that die or can be sacrificed in order to get ahead. Spark Elemental, Hellspark Elemental, Ball Lightning and Vexing Devil all work amazingly with Athreos. Another card that also does well with the elemental creatures and Athreos is Claim // Fame. Past that, Dark Confidant helps with card advantage to keep swinging and Grim Lavamancer continues to apply pressure.

Running Mardu also means we have access to Fatal Push, Lightning Bolt and Path to Exile which are three of the best removal cards in Modern and access to Kolaghan's Command, one of the best utility cards in Modern.
