Atarka of the Killer Tomatoes

Commander / EDH* Aggro Dragons RG (Gruul)

Maybeboard

This is an Atarka deck with the ability to go deep or go wide as needed. Atarka, World Render is great pressure and/or a finisher, but should your opponents neutralize her, there are many other ways to win.

The big smashing dragons are too slow to race most other combat-based decks without the two legs of this deck: ramp and haste. For ramp we have Aether Vial, Dragonlord's Servant, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Dragonspeaker Shaman, Wood Elves, Chandra, Torch of Defiance, Circuitous Route, and a plethora of mana rocks. Nyx Lotus and Zendikar Resurgent are the top of this curve and help the deck keep up in the late game.

For haste we have Expedite, Dragon Tempest, Lightning Greaves, Fires of Yavimaya, Rhythm of the Wild.

The biggest value engines of the deck, which your opponents should not leave unchecked, are Thunderbreak Regent, Scourge of Valkas, Dragon Broodmother, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, and Utvara Hellkite. When tutoring, these are the top five picks. Any two together is a powerful combo, and once you get three or four of these, or add Atarka to the mix, it's important to end the game quickly or risk becoming the archenemy. The deck's biggest weakness is board wipes, so time your assault carefully if you smell one coming.

Artifacts are also a small subtheme of this deck. There is the opportunity to go Voltron if necessary, especially with equipment like Lightning Greaves, and Sword of Feast and Famine. Mirage Mirror can duplicate a variety of wonky threats, including your own Nyx Lotus or Zendikar Resurgent for heavy mana, any dragon for an additional attacker, or your opponents' best punishing blocker. God-Pharaoh's Gift keeps the dragons coming (with haste) once a few have died.

All planeswalkers are versatile threats even when not directly participating in a combo.
