trying to control the pace of the game with Ethersworn Canonist, and Utter End. While flying over my opponents with Glaze Fiend ; with the rest of the cards to pump up my creatures and get things into play quickly. Eventually swinging for the win with Etched Champion, Cranial Plating, possibly Glaze Fiend , or any thing else that's large. I tried to design this deck to take on multiple opponents and have an answer for almost anything. Thanks to everybody who has given me suggestions and up-voted, any other suggestions are always welcome.

venomfex says... #6

you need Unwinding Clock .

Maybe Everflowing Chalice for more artifact-y mana. And everflowing chalice plays really well with Contagion Engine (and who doesn't love -1/-1 counters).

And i prefer Master Transmuter over etherium sculptor for discount artifacts and shennanigans.

May 24, 2012 9:39 a.m.

Bm102410 says... #7

unwinding clock is a good idea but i dont really know what i would take out for everflowing chalice and contagion engine. master transmuter would be good if i had more expensive artifacts but seeing as i only have darksteel forge it doesn't seem worth it to put it in. thanks for the suggestion though

May 24, 2012 10:19 a.m.

Throw in a Blinkmoth Urn for great mana. or a playset of cloudposts.

Thirst for Knowledge and Thoughtcast would be better than Think Twice .

I'd love to see a Glaze Fiend equipped with a Cranial Plating , but that's best for another kind of deck (probably some sort of affinity build)

I'm not really getting the Lodestone Myr , maybe you misspelled Lodestone Golem ?

Sphinx Summoner might be an interesting card, fetching you a new Ethersworn Adjudicator or a Ethersworn Canonist

since your mana base seems to be on a budget, maybe swap the Azorius Chancery for some Arcane Sanctum s

May 28, 2012 2:26 p.m.

Bm102410 says... #10

@ deathbygraffe

i do like thirst for knowledge and thoughtcast better than think twice. the lodestone myr is one of the kill cards because if i have 3ish artifact creatures im not attacking with plusat least 3 or 4 other artifacts i can tap them and have a 9/9 trample and then with unwinding clock i can do it all over again during my opponents turn if i need a large blocker and im not indestructible. thats my reasoning behind him. i do like the sphinx summoner though. thanks for the suggestions.

By the way, the format is Legacy because of Artifact lands.

I'd replace card:Venser's Journal with Pristine Talisman . The mana ramp/life gain goes along well with the theme of this deck, certainly so with Unwinding Clock . Then you could also drop a land and replace it with something else (another Counterspell perhaps?). I really don't see the need for the journal.

June 29, 2012 11:49 a.m.

Bm102410 says... #15

Venser's journal pairs with blue sun's zenith and all of the other cards used to draw, i can usually get it out turn 4ish so i start gaining at least 4 life per turn then a bit later in the game i can blue sun's zenith for at least 6 cards and gain even more life and most likely have the final piece of the puzzle. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I like Baleful Strix better than Tidehollow Strix

June 29, 2012 12:15 p.m.

I think you should invest in the newer Baleful Strix . It's got less power, but drawing a card is never a waste.

June 29, 2012 12:16 p.m.

Bm102410 says... #19

I do like Baleful Strix. Thanks everybody for all the feedback and up-votes!

why High Tide when you only have 3 islands?

June 30, 2012 12:13 p.m.

Litewarior says... #21

Take out High Tide , you don't have enough islands to make it worth it.

You should try to get more of the artifact lands.

Take out card:Venser's Journal, you don't have that many draw effects.

+1 just on the name alone.

What of Cranial Plating and Glimmervoid ? Void will make color fixing so much easier. Plating speaks for itself in a deck like this.

August 6, 2012 12:24 a.m.

Bm102410 says... #23

@ sax, I've thought about Cranial Plating but I'm not sure what I would take out, I like Glimmervoid instead of Arcane Sanctum as it doesn't come in tapped. thanks for the suggestions and upvote!

Etched Champion or maybe Tezzeret the Seeker to fetch some artifact lands? +1 though, i got a blue artifact deck with some similarities.

whatitis says... #27

Mycosynth Golem and Lodestone Golem would most likely help as well

August 17, 2012 9:53 p.m.

DukeNicky says... #28

Glimmervoid is definitely wanted in this deck, I'd also look into using Master of Etherium and/or Master Transmuter for their shenanigans. If you want some counters go for Assert Authority or Override either way they will be denied, I love those spells. +1 for me

September 14, 2012 11:58 a.m.

Bm102410 says... #29

@ dukenickyGlimmervoid is one I want but haven't bought yet, I've thought about Master of Etherium not sure what I would take out maybe Lodestone Myr ? I would use Master Transmuter if I had more expensive artifacts, but seeing as Darksteel Forge is the only high priced artifact Arcum Dagsson works well especially if I haven't drawn it yet. I like the counters but Im not a huge fan of running counters in a deck like this because they take up card slots and usually I'll have something else in my hand to replace what what was removed, or countered. thanks for your suggestion and upvote.

September 14, 2012 12:27 p.m.

DukeNicky says... #30

Energy Chamber could be great with all your artifact creatures its another Steel Overseer , as well as if you can manage a 4th of Vault of Whispers and Ancient Den would help for the artifact count. Affinity wise Myr Enforcer and Frogmite can make good quick jumps into play and get potentially huge. Etched Champion should be in here since you will always be running metalcraft, its very good chance that it'll just walk past the opponent's guards. Lodestone Myr is nice for trample and growth, but is overall kinda not helpful. Another great game ending card that can get cheap was one of my fav's when I started: Broodstar . Leonin Abunas can Hexproof your field. Darksteel Juggernaut

+1 for deck name, construction and using most of the cards I love. Though I have to say, adding in a Sundering Titan could do more control snazzy-do if you had a Crucible of Worlds in there.

November 29, 2012 5:17 p.m.

Bm102410 says... #46

@ Gbwiz I like Tempered Steel but Steel Overseer does kinda the same thing and it can block, I've never really been a fan of planeswalkers though, they're always attacked as soon as they hit the battlefield in my playgroup so to me it seems like a waste, thanks for your suggestions [email protected] I have a friend who plays an evil Armageddon deck so Crucible of Worlds and Sundering Titan would be great to sideboard and try and beat him to destroying the lands. Thanks for the suggestions and up-vote!

November 30, 2012 1:35 a.m.

wreckgar says... #48

I know it has been mentioned above but Master Transmuter would be great for this deck. the 'blink' ability works well with ETB effects from Sphinx Summoner and Baleful Strix . blinking also saves your creatures from targeted spells as well.I can also suggest Skeleton Shard or Trading Post for recursion.

December 2, 2012 2:40 a.m.

Bm102410 says... #49

I definitely like Skeleton Shard , regarding the Master Transmuter I have been thinking about it I think it would actually work better than Arcum Dagsson . Thanks for the suggestions.

December 2, 2012 2:47 a.m.

vazhar says... #50

I'd personally recommend Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas as an alternate win con. He goes off the turn after you play him. You should have enough artifacts out there to make it a quite substantial hit, if not a game ender.

December 6, 2012 1:06 a.m.

steele000 says... #51

i like Vault Skirge over Glaze Fiend but i like both

December 7, 2012 2:03 p.m.

Guardian Beast , maybe? He's kind of expensive.

December 10, 2012 4:46 p.m.

Since it's only non-creature artifacts, I'm not too sure that it's worth it.

December 10, 2012 5:27 p.m.

blastizard says... #55

Great deck, only downside is I see it losing to a faster deck. That's the only draw back in my opinion, odds of that happening are slim though. I made a deck called urza's creatons, its wicked fast, could be the kind of deck to cause serious problems if it got rolling first. Love the name by the way. haha

December 10, 2012 11:20 p.m.

Bm102410 says... #56

Thanks, but yeah I do tend to have problems with incredibly quick decks, unless I can get Ethersworn Canonist out quickly to slow them up a bit. Playtested your deck by the way, seems okay, but it seems like you have to many high cost cards especially with a deck that only does artifact mana ramp, it was around turn 5 when I could play Steel Hellkite and by then I had 2 other ones as well. I only playtested it once so I may have been unlucky.

December 11, 2012 10:53 a.m.

blastizard says... #57

Could be, I'm normally able to get Steel Hellkite or the Wurmcoil Engine out by turn 3, and Darksteel Forge after that.

December 11, 2012 1:07 p.m.

Bm102410 says... #58

yeah if that's the case then it would definitely give my deck a run for its money.

December 12, 2012 12:31 a.m.

December 13, 2012 12:31 p.m.

ivanmartinez says... #60

Nice deck dude, loved the Ethersworn Canonist and 3 color sinergy as well.

Id swap the Broodstar for Master of Etherium and the Arcane Sanctum for Glimmervoid , it'll make your deck faster and more effective.

Miss the Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas or Tezzeret the Seeker as well, they can really boost you deck up.

Take a look on my deck, maybe you can get (or give) some ideas:

December 13, 2012 7:11 p.m.

Bm102410 says... #61

Thanks, I'm in the process of getting Glimmervoid s I like Broodstar over Master of Etherium just because of flying and when I play him its usually late game. Not really a fan of plansewalkers, they never work for me, everyone in my play group swings for planeswalkers right away and they end up as a waste of card slots. I checked out your deck looks pretty solid, Sharding Sphinx is a really cool card.

December 14, 2012 1:54 a.m.

Is there any way you could add in 1-2 Mox Opal 's?

December 17, 2012 7:20 p.m.

Bm102410 says... #63

I probably could, but mana's not really an issue, thanks though!

December 17, 2012 7:47 p.m.

Ever thought of Freed from the Real ? Would allow for repeated master transmutations to continue. Also, with the amount of actual white spells, you might want less white mana. throw in more islands to make it work better.

Ever think about Vault Skirge ? It would help you in multiplayer to gain some easy life, and you can force it out early if necessary (with HP)

June 21, 2013 1:07 a.m.

CrazyMess says... #67

I would replace Darksteel Forge by Spellskite - Forge is too expensive and possibility of play this card is to small in my opinion. Spellskite is a really strong card which could give you more protection and control from burn, kill etc. I think that change would be great.

December 8, 2013 1:23 p.m.
December 17, 2013 4:58 p.m.

Your mana is a bit iffy I'd add some duals

January 5, 2014 11:29 p.m.

Ezrius says... #70

Venser, the Sojourner ? Or a Cloudshift / Ghostly Flicker / Momentary Blink type spell?

Any number of blink effects would just make Sphinx Summoner and Glaze Fiend the best of friends.

February 4, 2014 3:51 p.m.

artakha says... #71

Hmm... what about Wurmcoil Engine ? Having Esper allows for lifegain.

Tidehollow Sculler also works like a watered down Thoughtseize that's also a 2/2 body.
