unwinding clock is a good idea but i dont really know what i would take out for everflowing chalice and contagion engine. master transmuter would be good if i had more expensive artifacts but seeing as i only have darksteel forge it doesn't seem worth it to put it in. thanks for the suggestion though
i do like thirst for knowledge and thoughtcast better than think twice. the lodestone myr is one of the kill cards because if i have 3ish artifact creatures im not attacking with plusat least 3 or 4 other artifacts i can tap them and have a 9/9 trample and then with unwinding clock i can do it all over again during my opponents turn if i need a large blocker and im not indestructible. thats my reasoning behind him. i do like the sphinx summoner though. thanks for the suggestions.
I'd replace card:Venser's Journal with Pristine Talisman . The mana ramp/life gain goes along well with the theme of this deck, certainly so with Unwinding Clock . Then you could also drop a land and replace it with something else (another Counterspell perhaps?). I really don't see the need for the journal.
Venser's journal pairs with blue sun's zenith and all of the other cards used to draw, i can usually get it out turn 4ish so i start gaining at least 4 life per turn then a bit later in the game i can blue sun's zenith for at least 6 cards and gain even more life and most likely have the final piece of the puzzle. Thanks for the suggestion though.
@ dukenickyGlimmervoid is one I want but haven't bought yet, I've thought about Master of Etherium not sure what I would take out maybe Lodestone Myr ? I would use Master Transmuter if I had more expensive artifacts, but seeing as Darksteel Forge is the only high priced artifact Arcum Dagsson works well especially if I haven't drawn it yet. I like the counters but Im not a huge fan of running counters in a deck like this because they take up card slots and usually I'll have something else in my hand to replace what what was removed, or countered. thanks for your suggestion and upvote.
Energy Chamber could be great with all your artifact creatures its another Steel Overseer , as well as if you can manage a 4th of Vault of Whispers and Ancient Den would help for the artifact count. Affinity wise Myr Enforcer and Frogmite can make good quick jumps into play and get potentially huge. Etched Champion should be in here since you will always be running metalcraft, its very good chance that it'll just walk past the opponent's guards. Lodestone Myr is nice for trample and growth, but is overall kinda not helpful. Another great game ending card that can get cheap was one of my fav's when I started: Broodstar . Leonin Abunas can Hexproof your field. Darksteel Juggernaut
@ Gbwiz I like Tempered Steel but Steel Overseer does kinda the same thing and it can block, I've never really been a fan of planeswalkers though, they're always attacked as soon as they hit the battlefield in my playgroup so to me it seems like a waste, thanks for your suggestions though.@ResurrectedSage I have a friend who plays an evil Armageddon deck so Crucible of Worlds and Sundering Titan would be great to sideboard and try and beat him to destroying the lands. Thanks for the suggestions and up-vote!
I know it has been mentioned above but Master Transmuter would be great for this deck. the 'blink' ability works well with ETB effects from Sphinx Summoner and Baleful Strix . blinking also saves your creatures from targeted spells as well.I can also suggest Skeleton Shard or Trading Post for recursion.
Great deck, only downside is I see it losing to a faster deck. That's the only draw back in my opinion, odds of that happening are slim though. I made a deck called urza's creatons, its wicked fast, could be the kind of deck to cause serious problems if it got rolling first. Love the name by the way. haha
Thanks, but yeah I do tend to have problems with incredibly quick decks, unless I can get Ethersworn Canonist out quickly to slow them up a bit. Playtested your deck by the way, seems okay, but it seems like you have to many high cost cards especially with a deck that only does artifact mana ramp, it was around turn 5 when I could play Steel Hellkite and by then I had 2 other ones as well. I only playtested it once so I may have been unlucky.
Nice deck dude, loved the Ethersworn Canonist and 3 color sinergy as well.
Take a look on my deck, maybe you can get (or give) some ideas: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/shard-menace/.
Thanks, I'm in the process of getting Glimmervoid s I like Broodstar over Master of Etherium just because of flying and when I play him its usually late game. Not really a fan of plansewalkers, they never work for me, everyone in my play group swings for planeswalkers right away and they end up as a waste of card slots. I checked out your deck looks pretty solid, Sharding Sphinx is a really cool card.
