So this is my rendition of the aristocrats deck from 2 standard seasons ago just revamped. The deck has some huge improvements in my opinion with cards like Goblin Rabblemaster, Bloodsoaked Champion, and Butcher of the Horde. The strategy of the deck is to play out a bunch of early creatures and pressure their life total and then gradually kill them with a Butcher of the Horde or any other cards really. Here's how cards perform in the deck and my reason for including them:

The Creatures:

  • Soldier of the Pantheon = he is a very good one drop in this format as he has protection from multicolored, he also gains me life which in this deck is certainly a relevant thing. Overall just a very solid card for one mana.

  • Bloodsoaked Champion = he is probably the best one drop in this deck. He just has crazy synergies in both the early game and late game with cards like [[Butcher of the Horde] and Tymaret, the Murder King. He is a 2/1 for one which is extremely good and also can just push through damage because you can just replay him if he dies.

  • Frenzied Goblin = this slot has been tricky for me, for a little while I had Gnarled Scarhide in his spot but I found myself siding it out a lot. Frenzied Goblin helps me more throughout the game then the Scarhide because its ability allows me to push through damage with a Goblin Rabblemaster or a Butcher of the Horde. Also its typing is relevant because of Goblin Rabblemaster. This slot is definitely up for debate but I feel like Frenzied Goblin fits fairly well.

  • Tymaret, the Murder King = YES I FINALLY FOUND A DECK THAT CAN LEGITIMATELY RUN TYMARET!!! He is actually very good in this deck in my opinion. He is a sac engine both in the graveyard and out of it. He just gives the deck a lot of reach against both control and midrange. I love this card in the deck and he has definitely been performing very well.

  • Goblin Rabblemaster = how much do I really need to say about this card, its just insane. One of the big pluses though is its synergy with Butcher of the Horde. Since the token enters as you enter combat it allows you to sac it to the Butcher before you declare attacks and give him haste. Also it just gives you constant saccing-fodder for both Tymaret and Butcher.

  • Butcher of the Horde = this card is just insane, it does everything this deck wants as a four drop. Its a huge hitting flying demon that can sacrifice extra creatures to get very relevant boosts. The lifelink mode has saved me on many occasions and the haste mode is just disgusting. How can you argue with a 5/4 hasty flier for four mana, its just so good.

  • Purphoros, God of the Forge = this is another slot that I have been debating about between Purphoros and Sorin, Solemn Visitor. They both have their upsides against certain decks. Purphoros is much better against midrange and control while Sorin is better against aggro. I really do like Purphoros though because of the pumping ability and the reach it gives me with all the tokens production I have.

Now onto the Non-Creature spells:

  • Thoughtseize = I really dont need to explain the power of this card, everyone already knows just how good it is. It just allows me to do what I want to do with minimal problems which is kill my opponent as fast a possible.

  • Lightning Strike = once again just another very good spell and does what I need it to do which is give me reach/removal at an efficient cost.

  • Crackling Doom = this card is insane in this deck, it gives you answers to some of the harder creatures/planeswalkers to deal with. It kills Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker as well as a minus-ed Sorin, Solemn Visitor not to mention many other problematic creatures. It just clears the way for my creatures to attack as well as giving me a little bit more reach.

  • Mardu Ascendancy = this card is crazy good, it does pretty much everything this deck wants including a maindeck answer to Anger of the Gods and Drown in Sorrow. It provides incredible advantage and has huge synergies with Goblin Rabblemaster, Butcher of the Horde, and Tymaret, the Murder King. Just an insane card.

So those are all the non-land slots I have filled but the landbase has been a bit tricky. I want to have the majority of my lands come in untapped because its very important to be on curve with this deck but it is just such a painful manabase. Any suggestions on that would be hugely helpful. Anyways, thats my take on the deck, and please comment with any suggestions and dont forget to +1. Thanks!

Updates Add

so this weekend there is the TCGplayer states tournament, and I am hoping to bring this deck. I have been testing a lot online and I have been trying to figure out exactly what is good in this deck and whats not. I haven't been too impressed by Frenzied Goblin and I think I might replace it with Foundry Street Denizen. I love a lot of the interactions in this deck but I feel like I get a decent amount of just awkward draws. I really need some suggestions if I am going to run this at States so please comment and help me out. I have also been debating just moving it into a midrange deck and playing some bigger creatures like Brimaz, King of Oreskos and Stormbreath Dragon. Anyways please comment with your suggestions. Thanks!
