Commander / EDH BRG (Jund) Group Hug Group Slug Jank Theme/Gimmick

Strike_Rouge

I thought not. It's not a story your parents would tell you. It's a Christmas legend. Krampus was an assistant of Saint Nick, so powerful and so terrifying that he could use his power to influence the behaviour of children. He had such a knowledge of the naughty list that he could even keep the worst he scorned from misbehaving again. Severely punishing asshole children is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.

A friend of mine thought it would be neat to build a Naya group hug deck sometime close to Christmas. Naturally, my next idea after that was to build a Jund group "hug" deck as a counterpart. The deck has a few objectives it can take to win:

Give everyone tokens, blow them up with Kresh on the field, pump him up

  • Not the most foolproof strat the deck has without some form of protection on Kresh the Bloodbraided , but I think it can work. Being able to benefit off of any creature's death, regardless of whether or not I control it, is why I run him over Prossh, Skyraider of Kher .

Give everyone tokens, hit them all for big damage while Repercussion is out

Give everyone more draw power, hit them hard when they draw

  • The downside here is that I also take damage in every case. If I can go fast enough, it won't matter. I have other ways of group slugging via group hug effects. The biggest issue will be surviving the mass amount of aggro I'll draw to myself if I don't play carefully (or even if I do...).

Give everyone tokens and/or other creatures, kill them with Vicious Shadows out

  • It doesn't matter if it was a 1/1 Soldier creature token that died or an 11/9 Eldrazi they put out; if it dies, Vicious Shadows will stack quickly. Pairs nicely with the group hug draw effects.

Give everyone tokens and the ability to cast other creatures, and then beat them with said creatures via Insurrection

  • Exactly as titled.
