Aquitect's Merfolk

Modern Merfolk UB (Dimir)

BornToDie

This is my take on a Merfolk build.

Card breakdowns--Unblockable Creatures- Triton Shorestalker and Inkfathom Infiltrator. Not that scary, I know. taking 1 damage per isn't too bad.

Islandwalk-- Stonybrook Banneret and Merfolk Spy. Again, not that bad. Not playing against a deck with any blue? They aren't very helpful.

Gives other Merfolk Islandwalk- Streambed Aquitects and Master of the Pearl Triton. No blue, no threat.

Lowers Merfolk casting cost- Stonybrook Banneret Save your mana for other spells.

Creature Removal- Fatal Push Pretty standard for a deck to have some form of kill card.

Now on to the stuff that makes my friends hate this deck...

Chasm Skulker by itself isn't that bad. Pair it with the draw outlets Blue Sun's Zenith, Succumb to Temptation, Divination, and Tidings.. Well it becomes a threat pretty quick.

Reliquary Tower is there for you if ya find yourself needing some extra room for all the card draw. Though, only a one of.

So, you have a bunch of Merfolk out, Master of the Pearl Triton has given them all Islandwalk with no islands to walk on, Aquitect's Will and Streambed Aquitects should do the trick.

What's the point of having a 12/12 Chasm Skulker if he is getting chump blocked every time he attacks.. Throw a Deepchannel Mentor so the skulker can join in on the fun.

Have a 6/6 Chasm Skulker on the field? As well as an Inkfathom Witch any one drop 1/1 Merfolk? Two Fatal Push in hand with nothing to do? Drop a Fatal Push on the one drop Merfolk, then the second on the Chasm Skulker. Next turn, you can turn all of those 1/1 Islandwalking squids into 4/1 Islandwalking squids.

This is probably one of those 'to play with casually' decks. I doubt it would be something to pull competitively, but it's fun to use, none the less.

Never been that great with sideboards.. Any suggestions to make it more competitive are appreciated.
