I really think Approach of the Second Sun has the potential to be a control staple. Especially with all of the black early game removal spells like Fatal Push and Grasp of Darkness. I saw someone running a blue white control deck with Cast Out being their only spot removal, but I don't think Cast Out is good enough to protect someone long enough for them to cast approach twice. Cast Out is a great removal spell, but it's expensive and sometimes isn't exactly permanent removal. This is why I decided to make an esper deck with Approach of the Second Sun being the win condition. Black has all of the spells we need early game to deal with most decks right now. I changed the deck up a little and played a little standard tournament at my local shop. Everyone was running their FNM competitive decks and I didn't lose a round. I finished the night 2-0-1. Two wins, no losses, one draw due to time. I love this deck and I am very excited to play it on friday.
