A reboot of the Ally life gain/drain idea. There are some good cards in Kaladesh, Eldritch Moon, and Shadows over Innistrad sets that nicely compliment the The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Multiverse style decks. The premise is very straightforward: play cards that allow me to gain life while also eventually causing my opponent to lose life.

Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim is a 2/3 for only , making it a great bargain buy. I have managed to get to 30 life multiple times, though her sacrificing a creature to enable abilities does hurt because it I don't always have a lot of creatures out.

Defiant Bloodlord is one of those cards that most people avoid, and for good reason. with a casting cost of , it is expensive. However, this is exactly the card that has finished games for me. Most people don't mind losing a life here or there to other cards, but then throw in losing life just because I gained life, and this becomes a card that requires the opponent's attention very quickly.

Drana's Emissary is another staple of these decks. Gaining life during upkeep is fine. Stacking these is even better.

Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet has lifelink and really nice abilities. Powerful card. Great card.

Kambal, Consul of Allocation is probably the card that has thus far annoyed opponents the most. Casting any non-creature spell adds up. This means that vehicles and other, non-creature artifacts cost a 4 life spread to opponents (I gain 2, they lose 2). Very nice. It is worth noting here that there are 4x of this card and that it is a legendary creature. Opponents learn very quickly that they dislike this card and work to remove it quickly. As a result, I actually prefer to have a backup in hand.

Lone Rider   is a solid card, but it is not a card you want to play too soon. I try to reserve this until I have life generators out. While it becomes the target of removal no matter what, might as well wait to play it until I can flip it at the end of the same turn it was cast.

Night Market Lookout is a great first turn card as it can attack turn two and cause double damage if there's not a blocker. However, its main purpose in the deck is to crew Smuggler's Copter! Tap to crew, opponent loses a life. Even if I don't attack with the copter, I always crew. If I didn't attack, I wait until the end of my opponent's turn to crew. If Night Market Lookout is targeted with removal, I crew and get in one last ping. It's a card that will wear thin on people very quickly...

Noxious Gearhulk is the first to go when I have to sideboard, but the ability to destroy a creature when it enters the battlefield, then add its toughness to my life total makes this a solid 6 CMC card. Menace is just a bonus.

Zulaport Cutthroat is a great answer for anyone whop wants to try to pick off creatures, especially when I can get more than one out at a time.

Aetherflux Reservoir is great. Cast one spell, gain 1 life. Cast a second spell the same turn, gain an additional 2 life (now at 3 life added just this turn). Late game, particularly if Defiant Bloodlord is out, this card is deadly. I routinely get to 40 or more life. I have yet to get to 50 to activate it, but its just a matter of time.

Sky Skiff adds a different level of offense and defense. It cannot be targeted by creature removal unless it is crewed. The primary creature to crew is Night Market Lookout (see Creatures, above). It has added a new level of lethality to the deck.

Anguished Unmaking is a nice removal that doesn't hurt so much in a deck that has plenty of ways to make up that lost life.

Declaration in Stone is nice when facing decks with multiples of the same creature. The downside is that it allows the opponent to generate clue tokens for each non-token creature exiled, and it is sorcery speed. So far, this hasn't been a problem. It's also great for dealing with Electrostatic Pummeler , as are the previous two removal instant/sorceries (above).

Always Watching is the card that keeps my creatures on the board, particularly if I can get more than one out at a time. Vigilance is even better because I can poke opponents without having to tap creatures and open myself up for attacks. Great card. I am seriously considering adding a 4th to the deck.

Authority of the Consuls is a drop. It causes opponent's creatures to enter the battlefield tapped and I gain life. Great first turn card, great later game card.

Shambling Vent Although it comes in tapped, it is easily () turned into a 2/3 creature with lifelink the turn after it is played, and that's pretty good.

Concealed Courtyard A nice "fast land" that allows me to use a dual land in the first couple of turns. It does turn into a liability during the early mid-game when I need the mana that turn but I have already played enough that it comes in tapped.

Forsaken Sanctuary Another land that enters tapped, but does provide a dual land option. This makes potentially 10 of my 24 mana that could end up entering tapped, and that could be a problem. Play-testing will help determine if this is worth it.

Evolving Wilds Just in case I need to go get a Swamp or Plains, and that has happened so far. It also thins the deck by getting 2 cards out (this one plus the fetched basic land) to help me get to other cards more quickly.

Still in development, but here's what I have so far. The idea is to be able to add a control aspect to the deck, if needed. It has proven useful to side out some creatures and put in a bit of control, particularly Mind Rot, Transgress the Mind, and Witness the End (see below).

Anguished Unmaking See "Instants and Sorceries," above.

Declaration in Stone See "Instants and Sorceries," above.

Fragmentize In the current meta, this could end up main board simply because everyone seems to love having at least a couple of artifacts/enchantments in their decks.

Lost Legacy It's unfortunate that this card cannot go after artifacts (or lands), but it can go after cards like Eldritch Evolution or other powerful fetch cards upon which your opponent relies. I have ruined some days by siding this in and going after such cards.

Ruinous Path is great just because I can target planewalkers. I honestly don't know why more people don't play this card in their mainboard. Yes, it is sorcery speed while Murder is instant speed, but it can target planeswalkers. With Anguished Unmaking, this provides more than one outlet for dealing with pesky planeswalkers.

Transgress the Mind works well against decks that have some more expensive creatures and/or other spells. Watch carefully, though! I almost sided these in against a weenie deck before I realized that I would have very few targets. I put in one, happened to draw it, and was able to get Angel of Invention out of my opponent's hand. That was lucky because that might very well have been the game if I hadn't. Because of transgress the mind, though, I won.

Mind Rot is great, especially against weenie decks. They have low mana costs and the strategy is to quickly flood the board with creatures to overwhelm the opponent. Emptying an opponent's hand before this happens largely prevents the overwhelm.

Witness the End is one of my new favorite cards. It's a bit spendy to cast (), but it exiles two cards from my opponent's hand, and it deals 2 damage! Definitely worth some time in the deck.

------------------------ Summary ------------------------

I have been able to play test this deck quite a bit recently. It needs to be tweaked, and decks heavy in artifact creatures seem to give me some minor troubles, but I seem to win more than I lose. Generally speaking, though, this deck seems to do well in play-testing to this point. I'll report more as I test more and make changes.
