Animar was my first edh commander. I have been constantly working and tweaking on this deck.

Why Animar?

When I started playing EDH all the decks in my meta was battlecruiser. I liked the idea of casting small CMC and morph creatures to snowball into big guys. Obviously, as the meta change so did my deck. As a result was started out as a Timmy deck turned into a CEDH deck. Right now, I am averaging turn 4/5 win. My goal is to make this a turn 3/4 win.

Winning Combos:

  1. Ancestral statue + Purphoros: infinite 2 dmg to all opponents

  2. Infinite Mana + Walking Ballista: infinite mana to give ballista infinite counters, then ping everyone

  3. Tidespout Tyrant + Clone Effect (Clone or Phyrexian Metamorph) + 2 Colorless and/or morph Creatures: Clone the Tyrant. When you cast a colorless/morph creature bounce your other colorless/morph creature and a permanent that belongs to an opponent. Repeat this combo until all of your opponents have no permanents on the battlefield.

  4. Infinite Blue Mana + Tidespout Tyrant + Bounce creature (Shrieking Drake, Artic Merfolk, Man-o’-War, or Dream Stalker): Target Bounce creature with its own trigger. Then target an opponent’s permanent with the Tyrant. Repeat this combo until all of your opponents have no permanents on the battlefield. (This combo can be done with Ancestral statue for free if Animar has at least 4 counters)

  5. Laboratory Maniac + Repeatable bounce (see other win cons) + Creature spell draw (Soul of the Harvest, Beast Caller, Glimpse of Nature): Straight forward. Get Lab Man on the field then start drawing out my deck using repeatable bounce (such as ancestral statue) with a creature cast draw (like Beast Caller)

How to get infinite mana:

  1. Palinchron: If Animar has at least 5 counters and have at least 7 lands that can generate 4 blue mana, you can bounce and react Palinchron infinite times, with each cycle netting you one mana.

  2. Palinchron + Tidespout Tyrant + low cmc creature: When the low cmc creatures is cast, return Palinchron to hand. Cast Palinchron, target low cmc creature. Untap land from Palinchron. Repeat cycle infinite number of times.

  3. Cloud of Faeries + Tidespout Tyrant + Colorless/morph creature: Similar to the previous combo. With Animar, the colorless/morph creature should be casted for free, always netting you 1 mana

Notable cards:

Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar: I feel is an underrated card. It makes every card draw a semi- Ponder . With Animar, you can easily get this guy out for 1-2 mana. One game I was able to get Kozliek with Tomorrow on the field. Able to go through 12 cards of your deck as an ETB, not bad.

Genesis Hydra: works as a semi tutor for my deck. I found that this card was much better than Rishkar's Expertise ; especially if I can cast Genesis Hydra for two mana.

Tishana, Voice of Thunder: This card can be fetched with either Imperial Recruiter or with Fierce Empath. When Animar has at least 5 counters, Tishana can net me a lot of card draw for just two mana.

As always, I welcome any questions, comments, or suggestions to help this deck. Thanks.
