Deck Up-to-Date; Chopping Block Ideas! —April 10, 2017
Finally have the deck up-to-date with TappedOut, I'm gonna be working on a more detailed description, and I have found some cards to potentially cut for upgrades:
-
Undergrowth Champion: He's fun and all, but I don't know how I feel with him due to not having much impact in the 99.
-
Akoum Hellkite: Not-so-great card after testing a bit. I'd rather have Purphoros, God of the Forge instead, but money issues.. I may splurge sometime once I'm all settled.
As for cards to add in, I believe that other than the aforementioned Purphoros, Solemn Simulacrum would be a good add-in.
Also recently took out Zendikar's Roil to add back in Gaea's Touch, aka a weaker Exploration. I made this change because 2/2's aren't so impactful, even though they are elementals.
Raging_Squiggle you haven't rustled my jimmies as far as I've known, hahahah. :p The Stoneshaker Shaman scare is real though lol

Stoneshaker Shaman? I play Hermit Druid if that's what you're referring to.
December 2, 2016 1:01 a.m.
Oooooh herpderp :p I usually think Hermit Druid as all-in combo instead of combo-control. Most of what I remember you doing during games was tutoring up Druid then comboing out lol

Wait- now I'm confused haha
Shaman is pretty effective against control decks since they must sac an untapped land for a potential counterspell

Hostility can be pretty fun in omnath, but you'd have to trade a few Starstorm type wipes for a few other spells like Earthquake, Hurricane and maybe Atarka's Command kind of spells....pretty bonkers with Chandra's Ignition too...
Hostility and Pyrohemia together is bonkers, though obviously only repeatable a few times before risking your commander, as well as being a janky combo...still worth a thought...

A fun card you could try is Gratuitous Violence for some BOGO deals.
Premium creature removal is a bit $$ but Chaos Warp and Song of the Dryads are probably the best.
Lastly, Pathbreaker Ibex makes for a pretty decent wincon in token builds if you find a place for it.

joshuaizac Hostility sounds like a fun card, idk if it's 100% on my theme though. I'll still consider it nevertheless :)
AngryKitten I think Gratuitous Violence sounds hilarious to use tbh, I'm tempted to find a spot for it :p I'll find a spot for Chaos Warp, I totally forgot about Song of the Dryads tbh. Also Pathbreaker Ibex is a card I haven't considered actually, I'll probably add it in.
Thanks for the suggestions!

A nice budget piece of spot removal in the same vein as Song of the Dryads is Lignify.
If/When budget becomes less of a barrier, I'd personally add Azusa, Lost but Seeking, Titania, Protector of Argoth, Crucible of Worlds, Wasteland, Strip Mine, and the fetchlands...Wooded Foothills et al. They make for an explosive number of elementals. Also, Lotus Cobra and Rampaging Baloths end up adding a lot of value to those additions as well. I would recommend the Cobra to any multicolour, fetchland rich green deck.

Momentous Fall for draw - plus with Omnath you might get to 'bolt off of it :)
December 2, 2016 12:44 p.m.
Also - maybe Garruk, Primal Hunter or Soul of the Harvest

Hi, I've been playing angry omnath since it's inception and he's still a blast to play with. Mine is more combo and landfall abuse oriented. Card draw options are plenty and the ones I would recommend are:
- Nissa, Vital Force (great addition to deck either way)
- Tireless Tracker
- Sylvan Library (painful to draw extra but is a great way to filter your deck)
Feel free to check my version out here for more inspiration and don't hesitate to ask me anything! It's my favorite deck so far!

Man you need more lands. Need ways to drop more than one each turn. Exploration, Temple Bell. Even lands that come in play tapped use Amulet of Vigor. And if you have one, Purphorous is never a bad add.

I see that your deck is very burn-esque;however, I see that it isn't built around the commander as well as it could be, because when I first saw him, I thought of some sort of Elemental tribal. So, if you'd like to see my results, here they are. You have fewer Elementals to be used by Om-Wrath (lol Angry Omnath, I had to), and one of my bigger questions is the reason that Splendid Reclamation is included, for I see not enough land sacrifice to justify it.

here is my deck idea, and I hope this helps, and if I came off a little harsh, I do apologize, but this deck seems a little off, and I just wanted to help. Otherwise, I hope someone comes along and gives you the advice you're looking for!

MindAblaze I'll consider Lignify, shoulda picked Song of the Dryads up while it was cheaper. Oh well. :p The more wallet-intensive cards are definitely on my wishlist, I'm going to add them for sure if I get the chance.
BS-T I have had Momentous Fall and its ilk in the deck, but I removed it because it tended to be drawn at the wrong time. That's how I felt with Parallel Lives to Second Harvest. Soul of the Harvest was in the deck, but it was usually dead because I have only 16 creatures. I actually like the idea of Garruk, may find a space for him.
Enral once I get that Nissa, she's gonna be going in lol. Very easy to ult her and it's very beneficial for the deck. Same goes with Tireless Tracker. Sylvan Library would be amazing, but it's a bit out of my budget right now.
DasTree will happily add in more lands lol, any number you'd suggest? I'm thinking 40 haha. Exploration is also someday lol, Temple Bell is good I guess? I'd rather run Rites of Flourishing at this point over it. Purphoros's hammer is pretty lonely over there.. :p
20IzzetEngineer00 all good! I took it as constructive criticism rather than harshness haha, always happy to hear the former. :p Splendid Reclamation is pretty good in my playgroup because there tends to be a fair amount of land destruction and milling, I have considered Aggressive Mining as a land sac outlet. Or Sylvan Safekeeper. Elemental Tribal is another great way to run Omnath, since more elementals dying means more bolts. I focused more on his tokens (and burn) in this build, but elemental tribal is a perfectly fine way to run him!
Thanks for all the suggestions!

I suggested Temple Bell for straight up card draw. It's on budget. but it does help opponents, hopefully it helps you more though. And with this fOm_Rath you should run at least 40 lands. I run 41. All the panaorama's are good. Cards like Mountain Valley (cheaper versions of the sac lands) are fantastic for a budget. You want to trigger Om_Rath as much as possible. Which is why Amulet of Vigor was a suggestion. That way you could use those discount sac lands ASAP. Ghost Town is a great land on budget. Boundless Realms is AMAZING!!! How about Mina and Denn, Wildborn? 2 lands per turn? that's 2 5/5's and 10 damage to the dome with Where Ancients Tread. Purphorous, God of The Forge was my suggestion. 2 damage every time a creature hits the board. With a burn deck all you want to do is deal damage every time something comes in. And you need card draw. With trying to drop multiple lands per turn you don't want your hand to run out of gas.
So here is my current Om Rath build. Take a look at it for some possible suggestions if you would like.

DasTree ah okay, Temple Bell is a bit of an unusual card tbh. I did talk with some of my playgroup members and they said I'm still threatening even with some group hug thrown in.. I could give it a whirl haha. I actually really like Ghost Town (thought you said Ghost Quarter when I read your suggestions), may cut a land for it. Mina and Denn, Wildborn are already in, and they're very good. :p
I'll definitely take a closer look at your deck, thanks for the suggestions!

Temple Bell is nice, but it can be a liability if your opponents already think you're the threat.
December 5, 2016 3:40 p.m.
budget lands cards I was suggesting.. These will give you 2 5/5 elemental tokens.... Grasslands, Mountain Valley, Rocky Tar Pit, Thawing Glaciers, Krosan Verge. There are more but this is what I could remember.

I am very familiar with Omnath, it is one of the decks that does the best in my play group. My buddy omnath runs 50 lands even, and he runs out of lands some games. That said, there are some changes I would make
Akoum Hellkite - High mana cost for a weak effect, does not help the ultimate goal
Purphoros, God of the Forge is a much better card. I know you are on a budget, but this is a great addition. It does the job better, is harder to destroy, and costs less to get out.

I forgot, Ghost Town is a great land to have, guaranteeing landfall triggers every turn.
December 31, 2016 5:29 p.m.
DrCreamy I'm planning on bumping up the price of Omnath soon, actually so I'm open to cards that will be more optimal. I do agree that Akoum Hellkite is an underperformer in this deck, so no hard feelings to removing it.
Raging_Squiggle I remember Ghost Town being mentioned, and might as well add it in haha, it's a nice way to trigger Omnath's ability after going off and you have no more fuel.
Thanks for the suggestions!

This is totally going to be meta dependent, but what are your thoughts on Tempt with Vengeance? Even better with a sac outlet, but hilarious to just attack into a bunch of blockers. Bolts to the brain?

I play control though. :(
