Angry Birds

(Budget UW Fliers)

Angry Birds is a budget modern deck based on the Legacy Angry Birds (found ). While the Legacy version wins through Island Sanctuary with Sky Hussar , we don't have that luxury. Instead, the goal of Angry Birds is to play cheap flyers and use our "Lords" to go over the top of most modern decks.

The Cards

Augury Owl: gives us some control over our draws on a body.

Judge's Familiar: our very own Cursecatcher. Very useful for tempo and also a creature.

Aven Mimeomancer: the first of our lords, this creature can also function as removal, allowing our army of 1/1 birds to kill big threats.

Pride of the Clouds: our Tarmogoyf. This guy gets massive and in rhe late game can be used as a constant source of card advantage by making birds.

Spellstutter Sprite : flash, flying, AND countering spells? yes please!

Squadron Hawk : Does this really need an explanation?

Thunderclap Wyvern : Another lord. Having flash is great for keeping opponents guessing and allows for some gross combat tricks on unwary opponents.

Stormscape Familiar: cheaper than Warden of Evos Isle and makes most of your spells cheaper.

Faerie Miscreant: occasionally drawing us a card and buffing our Spellstutter Sprite is a decent deal.

Favorable Winds: our last lord, being an enchantment makes it extremely useful, since a lot of decks are short on enchantment removal.

The Sideboard OptionsOblivion Ring Removal for literally anything ever. Except Manlands.

Journey to Nowhere Creature removal, something that we can't usually get for so cheap. Depending on your store meta this can be mainboarded.

Plumeveil and Wall of Denial These are our main answers to aggro decks. Plumeveil is particularly amazing for flashing in as a blocker, although its mana cost of can sometimes be hard to cast.

Phyrexian Revoker and Pithing Needle Our main answers to combo. Stops Ad Nauseam in its tracks until they can find an answer.

Torpor Orb and Hushwing Gryff These are around mainly to deal with Abzan CoCo, although they can be very useful vs Thopter Combo decks or just goodstuff decks with ETB effects (Snapcaster and Clique, looking at you)

Disenchant and Kataki, War's Wage Affinity. Need I say more? (non-budget option is Stony Silence if you have them.)

Rule of Law, Curse of Exhaustion Storm and Ad Nauseam, if either is prevalent in your area these are worth a consideration.

Ghostly Prison not at all budget-friendly, but an amazing card for closing out games vs aggro decks. Most of the time they won't be able to pay for more than one attacker so you can hold them off with one bird while slowly grinding them to death.
