Sorcery (1)

I always liked the lore and aesthetic of angels - beautiful, powerful, righteous, and morally irreproachable. Lyra Dawnbringer is the perfect commander for an army of angels.

Ramp as much as you can with Tithe, Smothering Tithe, Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Thran Dynamo, and Caged Sun. Expedition Map is there to find the nonbasic you need like Arcane Lighthouse to combat hexproof, Cavern of Souls to dodge counterspells, Emeria, The Sky Ruin for get angels back after boardwipes, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx for mucho mana, or any of the Strip Mine style cards. Herald's Horn, Urza's Incubator, and Herald of War help by reducing Angel casting costs.

If you're lucky, you'll be able to ramp to keep up with other decks. This deck has a high curve. You will most likely cast a Wrath of God style boardwipe before you start dropping angels, just to level the playing field.

I would characterize this deck as "Hate-Angels" in that all of the angels provide all sorts of great toolbox abilities. Including artifacts there are about half a dozen anthem effects. Four angels provide targeted exiling of creatures or non-land permanents. Some angels help you recover from boardwipes or removal. Karmic Guide combos with Angel of Condemnation or Adarkar Valkyrie to give you the ability to recover at least one creature from your graveyard every turn directly into play. Of course there's always Reya Dawnbringer for that, too. Twilight Shepherd provides slower, but more durable protection from boardwipes. Angel of the Dire Hour, Sunblast Angel (enabled through Vedalken Orrery), Riot Control, and Teferi's Protection keep you from getting blown out when someone combos off. Angelic Field Marshal and Angelic Skirmisher provide, among other buffs, Vigilance to all of your creatures which combos with Archangel of Tithes and Pristine Angel, while also protecting you from your own Sunblast Angel.

Don't forget that Vedalken Orrery makes it so you can cast all of these angels at instant speed, giving you the most value for these toolbox abilities.

Since your creatures all fly, you shouldn't have any difficulty getting in there with damage, which is the primary win-condition of the deck. Lyra Dawnbringer gives all of your angels Lifelink, so other possible synergies can come from life gain. I include Well of Lost Dreams to get some card draw out of it.

I really like this deck, but it's too slow to be competitive. You'll likely have a target on your back when you start dropping huge angels, especially when those angels are exiling your opponents non-land permanents. Sometimes it may seem that nothing you play survives a rotation of the table. Again, Vedalken Orrery is really good.
