"Practice Compassion And Mercy. But Know When They Must End."

Aurelia, the Warleader is a insane combat powerhouse that can cause fatal burst damage through additional combat steps. This effect, along with her ability to untap creatures, can form combos with almost every card in the deck. Equipment like Umezawa's Jitte, Sword of Fire and Ice, or Sword of Feast and Famine have their effects doubled, creatures with activated abilities like Goblin Welder, Mother of Runes, or Stoneforge Mystic can go into overtime and other multipliers like Double Strike or Gisela, Blade of Goldnight get broken in half. I wanted to make a Aurelia, the Warleader deck that forced her to reach her greatest potential, a deck that focused on red and white's control, affinity for equipment, and the ability to go infinite with explosive Multi-Combat and Endless Damage combos. Every card in this deck should have synergy with the others and my main focus is consistency. I'm currently looking for any feedback or suggestion.

Many of the creatures in the deck, including Aurelia, the Warleader herself, are pretty squishy. There are a few exceptions that provide mid and late game power like Sun Titan or Gisela, Blade of Goldnight but a collection of small creatures, mostly known as "hate-bears," help control my opponents in the early game. They also provide the bodies that non-creature removal cannot. These creatures, such as Goblin Welder, Grand Abolisher, or Magus of the Moon may lack stats but their abilities can rip certain strategies to shreds. Overly expensive support cards like Imperial Recruiter or Wheel of Fortune are nice to have but are by no means necessary. A budget substitute along the lines of Recruiter of the Guard or Magus of the Wheel would be much more affordable. In order to compensate for the lack in stats, this deck runs a number of Equipment to make my creatures stronger. Lightning Greaves, Umezawa's Jitte, Sword of Light and Shadow, Sword of Fire and Ice, Sword of Feast and Famine, and Darksteel Plate can turn all my weak creatures into combat monsters.

This deck abuses white's ability to blink creatures for their Enter the Battlefield triggers. There are multiple ways to achieve infinite blink loops and many creatures in the deck can use blinks to untap, reuse abilities, and go infinite. Purphoros, God of the Forge become a disgusting win conditions when combined with degenerate amounts of blinking. Creatures with separate triggers, such as Fiend Hunter, can be sacrificed to exile something permanently while blinking yields double the value. I tend to prefer Exile effects when playing white in any deck, considering how big a role the graveyard plays in most high level EDH decks. Cards like Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares, Forsake the Worldly and Return to Dust can be used to permanently delete threats that may upset my game plan and global removal like Wrath of God, Armageddon, and even Aurelia's Fury shuts down everyone. Global destruction effects are notorious for being combined with Avacyn, Angel of Hope and other Indestructibility to make the damage one sided. My favorite deck type is STAX so I included some cruel cards like Strip Mine, Wasteland, Armageddon, Maze of Ith, Kor Haven, Martyr's Cause, Goblin Welder, Orim's Chant, Abeyance, Grand Abolisher, Aurelia's Fury, Magus of the Moon, Blood Moon, and Eldrazi Displacer.

Now to get into the nitty gritty mechanics of the deck. This deck fields multiple ways to get infinite combat steps whether it be through one of the Aurelia, the Warleader reanimation combos with Sun Titan or something like Sword of Feast and Famine and Aggravated Assault. The baseline of the deck is to have some repeatable way to continuously have new combat phases, and allow complex plays using the stack. A direct example of this is getting Fiend Hunter into the graveyard and attacking with both my commander and Sun Titan, getting Fiend Hunter back and using it to exile Aurelia, the Warleader on combat phase number one, then sacrificing Fiend Hunter so that the stack allows you to blink Aurelia, the Warleader making it a new copy. Given the fact that this deck relies on sacrifice outlets to make these combos possible, it makes sense to sport a large collection of reanimation and infinite reanimation combos.

There are 5 sacrifice outlets in the deck. 2 of them can win the game instantly, and 2 of them produce infinite mana to end the game with Aurelia's Fury, Aggravated Assault, or Purphoros, God of the Forge!

This deck runs the cards Sunforger and Mistveil Plains which allow me to re-use my instants.

  • Enlightened Tutor: Tutors up any enchantment or equipment in the deck. A re-useable way to retrieve combo pieces and finishers.

  • Tithe: Insane value if you are fighting people with green. Good source of cards.

  • Orim's Chant: Very strong shut down spell with a valuable kicker.

  • Abeyance: Shuts down control and combo decks and draws a free card. This card also stops Planeswalkers, Equipment, and any activated ability that is not a mana ability.

  • Boros Charm: A cheap finisher with double strike and brute force 4 damage but also a powerful protection spell against mass removal.

  • Swords to Plowshares: Game Long removal for small sums of life.

  • Path to Exile: Game Long removal for a basic land (looking at you 3-5 colored decks)

  • Oblation: A removal spell or a draw two on something you want to save, a token, or something expendable.

  • Forsake the Worldly: Game Long removal for cards like Rest in Peace, Torpor Orb, or Aura Shards that can also be cycled if not needed.

  • Return to Dust: Game Long removal for any pesky artifacts or enchantments that gets additional value.

+1 If you like the deck
