mtg, mtg cards, magic the gathering, gaming, geeks
This deck basically works in two ways: a.)gain a metric ton of life and win, or b.) make your stuff untouchable and then boardwipe everyone else.
It's a little slow, what with the big angels and all, so that could definitely be improved on, any advice would be appreciated!
EDIT: 1.8.13: Added a bunch of stuff, more tutors and artifacts than anything else. I'm still having serious problems with this deck because it's so slow, so any advice on mana ramps would be good. Also, any protection for creatures would be great, as I'm pretty much becoming the #1 target the second I put anything on the field. :D
Maybe I am old-school with my Magics, but shouldn't Serra Angel and Voice of All be in here? I feel like they are some pretty key angels. Protection and Vigilance can be hard to deal with in most situations. Serra Avenger would be nice.
Maybe a Serra Avatar , too.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone! It's helping a lot! I'm not gonna lie, I basically saw an angel - battlegrace, I think, and knew I had to have an angel deck. It's missing quite a few angels, some due to color constraints, others due to lack of space. I DID have serra angel in here, believe me, but she got edged out as more cards got added. I am adding a Seraph Sanctuary - I can't believe I didn't even think of that, haha!
I'm glad this deck is getting some help. I'll be honest, at home I play against a cancel/draw U/G MONSTER of a deck that never lets me do anything, let alone win. Do you guys have any ideas for white counter? Or ways to protect some of my permanents? So far I've gone with alot of return from the graveyard, thus Reya as my General. I usually play Linvala or Akroma.
This deck looks awesome! I love the angel tribe myself and there are definitely some unique cards that go well with it in an EDH format. Some such cards are Magus of the Moat , Moat , Peacekeeper and Ghostly Prison , which are great for slowing down opponents while you build up.
Enchantments like Concerted Effort , Light from Within , and Honor of the Pure (which I would replace Crusade with, so as not to give any opponent's white creatures +1/+1) are excellent for creature buffs. Angelic Renewal , Brave the Elements , Rebuff the Wicked , Holy Day , Silence , Story Circle , card:Martyr's Bond, Swords to Plowshares , Lightning Greaves , Swiftfoot Boots and Flickering Ward are also excellent for security. Also consider a kicked card:Marshal's Anthem.
Non-aura enchantments are generally excellent for helping to set up in the early turns of the game while you get your more expensive angels out later.
I would also recommend upping your land count to 36 or 38 for better mana consistency (especially considering the mana cost of some of your cards). Some useful (and inexpensive) lands you could add: Eiganjo Castle , Flagstones of Trokair , Forbidding Watchtower , Secluded Steppe and Sejiri Steppe .
Otherwise this is looking awesome! +1
Have you thought about picking up a copy of Twilight Shepherd ? That card is awesome when any sweeper is played. Basically lets you keep all your stuff around while everyone else looses theirs. And if you put in a flicker effect like Ghostway then you can reset her -1/-1 counter and use her again later. Also if you want to play more angels consider running a Gisela, Blade of Goldnight deck to get all of those awesome R/W angels, or Jenara, Asura of War to run some of the Bant angels and those two new awesome angels Bruna, Light of Alabaster and Sigarda, Host of Herons . Finally check out my deck Angelic Armada, it is an all angel Kaalia deck that is super fun to play.
