Barring the obvious Ichor Wellspring combo, Costly Plunder (CP) has numerous tricks it can pull out of thin air:

If your creatures are about to eat a removal, you can cast CP in response and watch your opponents squirm as you draw into more gas

If you draw into too many lands, you can convert artifact lands into more gas
-
Sitting ducks that can't get in for the damage later in the game like Thraben Inspector or tokens generated by Battle Screech could be converted into more gas to find that last point of Lightning Bolt damage to finish the game

Cast CP in response to the event where you only have one creature on the field and your opponent casts an Oubliette or Journey to Nowhere which will force him to exile his own creature while you draw two cards (watch the salt level rise)
