Do you hate people? Have you got no friends, and has life lost any sort of meaning that it once had? Well, have I got the deck for you. It's Infect! Infect is one of those decks that you play if you're not too worried about your opponent hating you, because you only need 10 damage to win, and that damage can't be healed. The point of Infect is to take your tiny, non-threatening creatures which your opponent would normally consider to be a mere annoyance then use your pump spells to instantly deal 10 damage to them with that weak creature.

Pure Poison:

  • Glistener Elf: This card can give you a T2 win with your pump spells if you get an opening hand that's good enough.
  • Blighted Agent: It does cost 1 more mana than Glistener Elf but since it is unblockable it pretty much guarantees you get your poison counters in.
  • Ichorclaw Myr: This card is good if you don't have any pump spells at the ready, and your opponent happens to have an annoying blocker.
  • Inkmoth Nexus: This is essentially just a Bighted Agent, except it's a land.
  • Now all of these creatures, when combined with your pump spells can deal lethal damage in a single turn, so if your opponent has decided to tap out then you can take that as your queue to lay down the pain.

Words of Wisdom:

Infect decks are one of the anti-fun decks in modern that are also extremely powerful. Since this is the case if you end up playing this competitively I almost guarantee that you will run into opponents with sideboards dedicated specifically for you. You do have a little bit of safety with the Blossoming Defense/Apostle's Blessing but beyond that you don't really have anything else, so you should always be wary of any sort of control deck. Also, the sideboard is open for change so if anybody has suggestions they will always be welcome.

I went into this Saturday game day at my shop intending to just have some fun and not really win anything since I didn't have a sideboard. So I guess you could say that I was pleasantly surprised to be the winner of the game day and I got a sweet Ajani playmat to show for it.

Matches: 4-0

Match 1: 2-0 against Mill. The guy didn't have any response my early game power and lost before he could do any setup.

Match 2: 2-1 against Dredge. Won game 1, then the guy side-boarded in some black removal spells which won him game 2, and game 3 he just drew poorly.

Match 3: 2-1 against Burn. I lost game 1 because he just killed any creatures than I would put onto the field and then he killed me. Games 2 and 3 were won by the MVP Phyrexian Crusader because he had no way to get rid of it so I could just 1-shot him on T4.

Match 4: 2-1 against JUND Aggro. I won the coin toss for first turn, and since we were both playing Aggro whoever got to go first won the game. This resulted in me getting games 1 and 3 but losing game 2
