Lavinia's Prison and Pillow Fort Combo deck.

"The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of our enemy's not attacking, but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable." -- Sun Tzu

Key Combos & Strategy highlights:

Always have a counterspell in hand when playing the final piece of the following combos, because it will pull aggro from the entire table.

  • Lavinia, Azorius Renegade + Omen Machine = A soft Lock, where no new cards can be drawn, but opponents can still play from their hands. I will randomly get a free spell cast on my turn from Omen Machine and opponents don't, but that rarely amounts to much. It's best to wait to play this until you have an Armageddon to cast or Mana Breach to combine with the above combo to solidifies your lock faster, because omen machine will cast spells for opponents that get auto-countered which would make Mana Breach decrease the amount of lands they have to use for useful spells in their hands, and also helps Lavinia counter more of their spells.
  • Knowledge Pool + Lavinia, Azorius Renegade = A hard lock, where nobody can play spells but me, except if they have anything on the board to remove a combo piece or enough creatures to destroy me because I will be facing all of them if I do this.
  • Decree of Silence + Solemnity = A hard lock, similar to Knowledge Pool, except probably more durable because it doesn't rely on a squishy human (Lavinia) to stay locked down.
  • Isochron Scepter + Silence = Silence the Opposition - A hard lock. Just remember to leave open 2 mana per opponent for as long as they refuse to scoop.

Sideboard Usage:

Potential combos to add:

  • Quicken + Upheaval at the beginning of opponent's end step (before cleanup).
  • Drogskol Captain + Hokori, Dust Drinker = Hokori (untap only 1 land) with Hexproof
  • Something to keep opponents from playing cards in hand with Omen Machine & Lavinia out. I snatched defeat from the jaws of victory because of that once already. Maybe only let people cast 1 spell per turn? Omen Machine would use up their cast most of the time. Seeing how Mana Breach does first.

Cards I wish I could add:

  • Land Equilibrium would be perfect for this deck, unfortunately it's super pricy.
  • Ravages of War is Armageddon by another name, and it'd be nice to be able to run a 2nd copy
  • Meddling Mage is too expensive for a card I can only use in a deck. I play enough blue and enough white, but not generally together. I could put in Nevermore as a replacement that's much cheaper, but definitely not as good.
