Updates —Sept. 24, 2018

I made some updates to the deck yesterday, and i still have cards coming in the mail.

After this, I will update the decklisting and go through my entire collection and put things that SEEM to fit in the Maybe Board.

The best suggestion I can give you is to look at my list. Jk!

Planeswalkers like Kaya, Ghost Assassin and Venser, the Sojourner work pretty well in Aminatou decks. Cards like Eerie Interlude, Ghostway and Ghostly Flicker are great if you're planning to use more flicker effects.

Oath of Jace and Panharmonicon lets you get more out of Aminatou and Felidar Guardian. And by more I mean infinite mana and ETB triggers.

what about Oath of Teferi? with that many planeswalkers it might be worthwile

what would you say to remove to add all these that you suggested into the deck?

I actually meant Oath of Teferi not Jace. Lol

I am not a fan of Entreat the Angels in Aminatou decks. Your land count is also a bit high I think.

yeah im a bit new to commander. this is litterally my first commander deck.

if you have the time to suggest changes, id appreciate it. Im leary about using pain lands but id be willing to put in shock lands.

It’s a good choice for a first deck. You just need to do some streamlining.

I focused on flicker effects which support the stax archetype. This might limit the type of cool shenanigans I am able to play but it gives the deck a lot more speed and consistency.

hi Daggerfella,

looks like a sweet deck!

A bit painful on the manabase, but before I can give more detailed help, how long have you played this deck? Do you want to flicker creatures? other permanents as well?

Iirc, Aminatou and Yennett differ in how they "enable" or "payoff" the top card. While it may not be "flicker"-ing, it is something you might want to consider when taking out cards to put in new ones.

so far, general advice would be: - to have 36 - 38 lands, depending on the cmc and colors of your spells

Hope that helps

hi Daggerfella,

I see.

You can go aggro control. Most of the creatures do hurt (5 power) with effective etb effect/s. Flickering them reuses their etb and give pseudo vigilance.

I will raise a disclaimer that esper tends to run "good stuff" because, well, there are good spells that have little to no alternates.

From the creature list: consider keeping

--removal Angel of Despair

Ashen Rider

Lavinia of the Tenth

Reflector Mage

--draw Sphinx of Uthuun

Mulldrifter

Cloudblazer

Archaeomancer

--value Arbiter of the Ideal Brago, King Eternal Diluvian Primordial -> great when many spells in opponents' gy

Sepulchral Primordial -> another good one, getting creatures in opponents' gy

Magister Sphinx -> my bias. similar to Sorin Markov

Vela the Night-Clad -> could be a win con, when you flicker enough

Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign

Resolute Archangel

Sun Titan -> not sure if you have many 3cmc permanents, but usually great to have

--combo Deadeye Navigator Peregrine Drake

maybeboard Boreas Charger

Chancellor of the Spires

Demonlord Belzenlok

Djinn of Wishes

Felidar Guardian

Jace's Mindseeker

Mistmeadow Witch

hope this helps.

I’m not a fan of the primordials since their value relies on what your opponents have in their graveyards.

If you want to focus on the flicker theme, I strongly suggest Parallax Wave. It has been very effective in my deck. I think a lot of the cards in your maybeboard are exactly what you need in the main deck. I guess you just need to get hold of them and replace some of the weaker cards currently in the list like Djinn of Wishes and Sphinx of Uthuun
