Niv-Mizzet, Parun

I am well aware that Niv-Mizzet has a stigma of being a degenerate and broken combo-machine and free-card-dispenser. This is in fact neither a stigma, nor an opinion, but factual.

The decklist above is perhaps more than a 75% take on Niv-Mizzet, Parun, which is in my humble opinion the most potent of the three Niv-Mizzets, in terms of power level anyway, but also many steps away from representing a fully geared to cEDH cutthroat decklist either. For half a decade my Niv-Mizzet EDH deck has been my pet deck and many of these cards hold sentimental value for me, as I aquired them with limited budget over a very long period of time. Thus not every card in this list of 99 may be the 100% optimal pick, but in the context of EDH this kind of reasoning is just a given.

The deck itself is, despite its linear strategy, quite mutable and handicaps, like switching Niv-Mizzet, Parun with Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius or removing the infinite combos, can easily be applied. I quite enjoy to toy around with Dragonstorm once in a while, or put the infinite combos in in case I want to be archenemy again for a round.

If you are looking for a fair and interactive game of Magic the Gathering, keep on looking, because Niv in the Command Zone is not what you are searching for. In case you are looking to draw as many cards as possible, storm off with Thousand-Year Storm or Omniscience and Enter the Infinite or get free Lightning Bolts taped on every Brainstorm you cast, maybe give the Parun of the Izzet League a try.

Apart from the inclusion of tje well known 2-card-infinite-combo-pieces that go very well with Niv-Mizzet, but lead to less exciting games in my opinion, suggestions and any form of input of any kind is always very much appreciated :)
