I was working on my other Allies deck (Mardu Allies - Bombastic Life Bros) and I noticed the strong correlation of Lifegain and Allies in BFZ, so I started working on a build focused around that very mechanic. I can't say it's an utter powerhouse but it certainly seems serviceable, and this build can be had for well under $20!

The main gimmick here is to use lifegain to keep you alive while whittling away with a variety of smallish creatures. Serene Steward 's, Bloodbond Vampire 's, and (occasionally) Defiant Bloodlord's +1/+1 abilities can strengthen units whenever lifegain happens. Drana's Emissary, Kalastria Healer , Stone Haven Medic , and Zulaport Cutthroat form the main engines for those, as well as some combat tricks ( Pharika's Cure and Tandem Tactics ) and the enchantments (Retreat to Hagra).

In terms of combat damage, Bloodbond Vampire is (hopefully) the primary heavy hitter, though Drana's Emissary's flight ability can help circumvent enemy defenses to do reliable damage as well. The other creatures individually do little damage, but with adequate numbers and some of the other spells, that'll (hopefully) equal pretty decent damage output.

Made some changes! I modified this deck for more of a Halloween theme a while back and I actually liked that version a little better, so I merged the two. One weakness I've found with this deck is that while I have a lot of creatures with good secondary effects, I didn't have many creatures that could hit for big damage: Bloodbond Vampire and Ajani's Pridemate can get strong over time, but other than that everything is fairly small. To those ends I've added a couple more Mortuary Mires to bring those creatures back into my hands should things go awry, and I may revise this deck again later to add more of the aforementioned creatures (most likely the Pridemates as they have lower CMC and are thus easier to get onto the field). In the meantime, I added some more Flying creatures (Drana's Emissary and Vampire Nighthawk to consistently deal damage as well as deal with other fliers if needs be.
