Xyris, The Writhing Storm

Wheels, Group hug, tokens and insane value is the name of the game here. Our opponents will love us for the amount of cards we are going to be giving them. However, with Xyris out we will be creating a massive army on everyone's turn and have lots of ways to abuse this. It's definitely Group Hug meets Group Slug!

Here are the core strategies you need to win with this deck:

Snakes, Tribal synergies and Tokens Matter|Control/Protection for Xyris| Wheels and group draw spells|Added value from our opponents draws/discards.

Let's break down the snake theme: Our commander makes snakes, is a snake and our game plan of making others draw cards triggers this ability. Every card our opponent's draw in addition to the first one each turn means one snake for us. We want to take advantage of this ability and abuse it to it's fullest. This is our main win condition.

(Pump)Coat of Arms + Beastmaster Ascension + Raid Bombardment + Seshiro the Anointed. Any of these will suffuce as we will easily make 10-40 tokens in each turn!

(Tokens ETB) Parallel Lives + Purphorous, God of the Forge + Impact Impact Tremors + Altar of the Brood. I love the last one because it is so unassuming and guarantees that late game we will not be the one's to deck ourselves.

(Combat) Champion of Lambholdt + Triumph of the Hoards + Kaseto, Orochi Archmage. These guarantee our commander gets in, and we can finish the game either with infect or Champion.

(Added bonus cards for our snakes!) Natural Order + Cryptolith Rite + Orochi Eggwatcher + Cultural Exchange. Tutor for our snake lord, mass ramp, sac and pump for extra Xyris damage or swap a few snakes out for our opponents BEST CREATURES. The last one is hilarious and has some super awesome artwork. Haha

Our commander will quickly get the game out of hand for our opponents. The first few times I have played this deck, we won within 2-3 turns of Xyris being on the board. He is so important to our game plan and needs to be on the field to win 90% of the time. So, protecting him is crucial to ensure we win. So, here's our control and protection package:

(Removal): Vandalblast + Chaos Warp + Beast Within + Decimate + Chaos Warp

(Counter spells): Arcane Denial + Fierce Guardianship + Dream Fracture

(Protection spells): Deflecting Swat + Heroic Intervention + Kashi-Tribe Elite + Boots

Okay, time for the real meat and potatoes of this deck, and what makes this a fun deck to play with and against. WHEEEEELS

(Draw Effect Permanents)Howling Mine + Magus of the Wheel + Teferi's Puzzle Box(side note: mean people can add Narset to lock out opponents) + Malignant Growth + Chandra Ablaze + Niv Mizzet, the Firemind + Forced Fruition

(Group Draw Spells and Wheels)Burning Inquiry(1 mana, make 9 creatures ha) + Words of Wisdom + Wheel of Fate + Prosperity + Mind's Aglow + Time Reversal + Reforge the Soul + Collective Defiance + Molten Psyche + Windfall + Fascination

Added Value cards that just fit nicely with our game plan.

Telekenetic Bonds(Discard, pay 2 and tap down a crucial blocker or two.) Psychosis Crawler(ping for each draw) Embercleave(Pump Xyris and flash out to finish off an opponent) Geth's Grimoire(Draw us more cards!) Spark Double(What's better than Xyris? 2 Xyris!) The Locust God(A worse version of Xyris, hahaha. But hey, he can help us finish people off if Xyris has drawn too much hate for us to deal with) Skullclamp(more cards please!) Curiosity(Niv with this is an inifinite combo if we have enough cards) Venser's Journal(Life Gain plus no max handsize? yes please) Shadowspear(more life gain, and trample through for Xyris triggers) Geier Reach Sanitarium(More draw, mana sink)

Side note, the only reason we can do the things we do is because of our ramp package. I am running more than the usual 10 because we will always have gas in our hands.

Sol Ring + Hedron Archive + Simic Signet + Izzet Signet + Mind Stone + Dockside Extortionist + Commander's Sphere + Solemn Simulacrum + Wilderness Reclamation + Wayfarer's Bauble + Thought Vessel + Arcane Signet
