Alesha- sub 100$ reanimating lady

Commander / EDH*

rewwer

This deck is exactly what you would expect after seeing its title (or at least i would hope so). It it's cheap and fun to play, but it still has some aces up it's sleeves.

I am very open to any ideas that you guys might have, and obviously this is not a final version (look at the size of the maybeboard). But it's the best I came up with so far:)

I will do some more detailed combos and synergues later, but so far just know, that you want to start with a card that has transmute (gives you something to revive AND a tutor) like Dimir House Guard which is also a good sacrifice outlet. Then a perfect card would be Cathartic Reunion

Then later, you want to fill your graveyard with creatures which you can reanimate. But remember, try never to expand too much over the board, because there is basically no protection for the creatures. So as long as you have the upper hand, 2 or 3 creatures should be ok. This deck kind of lacks card draw, or rather can't really have many opportunities, so make the best use of your cards and watch out for graveyard hate.

In the endgame you'd typically want to have a lot of lands and combo to make a good use of those cards.

As said before, I'll give detailed card combos later.

Ok so I feel like I should explain how this deck works again. I am trying to have a lot of come into play effects on my creatures, so they are useful even when they get killed while attacking. Also I put some sacrificing and discarding outlet in my deck to help me fill the graveyard and to benefit from the fact that I reanimate a lot of stuff.
To reanimate you need to have something in your graveyard. Now how to get there:

1) Discard: cards like Cathartic Reunion, Wild Guess or possibly Thought Gorger are good for filling your grave early on. Just remember, the opponent might be wise enough to have some graveyard hate. Bojuka Bog and you have wasted good cards plus you probably dont have anything good at your hand either. Later in the game you should be fine using Devout Witness or Trading Post

2) Sacrifice stuff you already had on board: I forgot how many things allow you to sacrifice stuff in this deck, bit there are better like Fallen Ideal or Goblin Bombardment. Medioker like Dimir House Guard or High Market, and situational- like Stronghold Assassin or Trading Post.

3) Everything else: I would include couple abilities. Here are some examples: Tomb Robber with explore, Netherborn Phalanx with transmute and Bone Shredder with echo. So transmute obviously being the best, echo sometimes comming kind of in handy and explore I just fell in love with. Tomb Robber fills your graveyard with creatures, hand with lands and gets bigger in the mean time. Plus it's hard to block him. Definitely a great thing.

You all probably know by now, that mtg is all about card advantage :) That is why reanimation is so strong -> you get to use a card couple times over and over, which gives you huge advantage. In this deck you can reanimate with Marshal's Anthem, Profane Command, Wake the Dead or Karmic Guide. Most important of all the reanimators of course being the general, around whom this deck was built. Most of the creatures have attack of 2 or less so that you can pull them while attacking. Dispite that, this deck has plenty of burst potential. Usually you should be able to start reanimating with your general by 4.or 5. turn. Since Alesha, Who Smiles at Death is pretty essential try to protect her with Indestructibility, Holy Mantle or other means necessary. That also means trying to put Fallen Ideal on some other creature, so she isn't the most obvious target.
I skipped right to this, because I am confidant, that I don't have to explain how to use board control in this deck.

Of course anything with attack 2 or less is a combo with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death, but that's obvious as well. What might not be so obvious is, how well something like Dimir House Guard works here. You use can use the transmute to find basically any response necessary ( Utter End, Magus of the Disk, Return to Dust, Indestructibility, Ravenous Chupacabra and so on) and than he is a free sacrifice outlet, which makes him a killer card to play with Starke of Rath, who would otherwise go to your opponent, but with this, you can put the sacrifice on stack and not worry about it.

Also, keep in mind that you will need some instant sacrifice outlet with for example Thought Gorger -> so that he doesn't get removed and you don't loose card advantage.

Do you want to reanimate a card with general, but don't want it to attack? Worry not, Karmic Guide is here for you.

Are you not happy with how many lives your opponent has? Fallen Ideal + Reassembling Skeleton have your back. Do you have Goblin Bombardment on a table and some mana to spare? Bloodsoaked Champion can be nice fodder as well. Now add Zulaport Cutthroat and Outpost Siege to the equation! Wow right? Well obviously in most games you won't be able to have all these cards on board. That's fine, you only really need the basic combo, but every now and than you can f#$k some s#@t up :)

I don't think that this deck has any viable infinite combo. I didn't aim for one since I don't really like to play against decks, that are based on them. Those are removed in favour of fun cards like Axis of Mortality, Mindclaw Shaman, Gonti, Lord of Luxury and Wake the Dead. Yes, I could use something much more efficent, like Avalanche Riders, Gift of Immortality, Banishing Stroke or Figure of Destiny and I thought about them, but they lack the fun element.
