I just love gaining life... too bad lifegain decks aren't competitive... aren't they?

This deck is my attempt at building a lifegain deck that will be cheap, fun to play, but most importantly competitive. You protect yourself by gaining as much life as possible and putting up some good defenses, then turning the tables with the wincons- and the way that works is actually pretty sneaky...

So why not just play soul sisters? This deck differs from traditional "life-gain" decks in that it functions more like control than aggro- at least, that's how it would seem to the opponent. In reality, our deck has some really fast wincons that can allow us to pull off a win sometimes as early as turn 4. Chalice of Life   and Aetherflux Reservoir are our main wincons because they are a lot harder to kill than creatures. If you think about it, Chalice of life might as well be a three mana 5/5 with unblockable and semi-hexproof... Awesome. Ajani's Pridemate is also a good win condition, but he will be targeted very quickly.

The only thing we're afraid of in this deck is our artifacts being destroyed, since we have no other wincon. Because of that, we're packing lots of artifact protection- most likely wayyy more than our opponents will be packing artifact removal.
