A grixis control deck that seeks to shut everything down in the early game and swing for big damage in the late game.
Removal: This deck features a great removal suite consisting of cards like Magma Spray and Harnessed Lightning to fight off early attacks, Sweltering Suns and Yahenni's Expertise as board wipes, and Unlicensed Disintegration and Noxious Gearhulk as hard removal for the later game.
Counters: We play Censor for the early game, and it's great if they tap out for something big later on. Essence Scatter and Negate are great obviously, and Disallow is our hard counter that can also hit abilities, which is great in this format.
Card Draw: Anticipate for filtering, Glimmer of Genius because it's amazing, and Pull from Tomorrow in the late game when we can use it to draw anywhere from 4-8 cards.
Win Cons: Noxious Gearhulk and Torrential Gearhulk are amazing abilities tacked onto big bodies that can win us the game. If we play Thing in the Ice
on turn two, it can flip by turn 4 sometimes, and that puts a lot of pressure on our opponent.
Ob Nixilis Reignited is card draw, hard removal, and a win condition all in one planeswalker. Add that to his high starting loyalty and he's exactly what this deck wants.
