Thanks for the comment Atroxreaper! as for claim, I don't think it has a high enough impact in this deck. Maybe if you are playing Dire Fleet Daredevil it may enable some sweet plays, other wise I don't think too many of the 1 and 2 mana pirates are high enough impact to use slots on claim. I'm running March of the Drowned in my sideboard for the same purpose.

And what about when it isn't an empty board? Yes getting back kari zev has some value, but if the best evaluation for running a card is that is can hit the opponent hard if isn't blocked, I don't see much of an argument there. For instance my argument for march is that for 1 mana I can recure 2 threats of any mana cost, sure I have to pay mana to replay them, but they were threats my opponent wanted off the board, now they have to exhaust more resources into removing them again. All I had to do was invest 1 mana and 1 card.

What do you think of Buccaneer's Bravado?

Hi pjeseb! Bravado is a really cool combat trick, and was definitely on my short list of cards. However I came to the conclusion that it relied on too much to be good. Basically it was win more, if it gave trample like Temur Battle Rage I think it would be insane! So in my case I chose Lightning Strike over it. However, I think it might be able to find a place in blue/red pirates because of the amount of unblockable/flying creatures they have.

Thanks for the response ValueBear. If you don't mind, would you tell me what you think of Fell Flagship and Forerunner of the Coalition as well? You probably considered both of those for this deck as well.
