So through playing with
Jace, the Mind Sculptor
in modern I've found out a few things.
1) He is strong when played at the right time, and really bad when played at the wrong time. This should seem like common sense, but sometimes you just have to learn common sense.
2) Going to time-or at least close to it- happens. A lot.
With these two points in mind, I want to attempt to make a little bit of a quicker Jeskai Jace deck, maybe even more tempo orientated, in order to combat and use Jace effectively. I have gotten a few useful pieces of knowledge that has changed that are not super common sense since the un-banning also.
3)
Vendilion Clique
just got a lot more valuable. A 3/1 flying flash
Thoughtseize
is already good, now add on the Jace starts at 3 loyalty and that we want to play Jaces of our own... I think Clique is pretty good. Flash in EoT, check to see if our jace is safe, maybe even kill a Jace of theirs, talk about value. I like it.
4)
Geist of Saint Traft
seems good. Jace can't bounce it, it can't be spot removaled, and it trades with BBE the next turn to protect our Jace in worst case seems pretty fair. Geist is already strong, but putting a lot of pressure on an opponent trying to go long is critical with the new modern.
I'll need as much help with this list as possible, so if you see anything please do respond/comment/yell at me (as long as you're nice about it)!!
