Evasion

Keeping anything alive in standard that is under CMC is obviously hard with Fatal Push making its way into a lot of decks, its even harder now that Ixalan is out because Lightning Strike made its way back into standard. This deck thrives where many others fail though by providing enough evasion to usually win games.

• Heroic Intervention, a board wide indestructible spell that also grants hexproof.

• Blossoming Defense, instant speed hexproof and a solid buff for one mana.

• Supernatural Stamina, while its not true evasion, it does work to make sure the creature its attached to gets to return to play.

Buffs

This deck relies heavily on buffs to really shine. The trick is that deathtouch and trample mix really well together. If a creature has deathtouch and trample and is blocked, it will kill the blocker with one damage and the rest will all carry over to the opponent player. So here, this deck is literally designed to go right through larger creatures.

• Larger Than Life, a +4/+4 buff and trample, only downside is it is sorcery speed.

• Blossoming Defense, one mana for +2/+2 at instant speed is pretty good.

• Rhonas the Indomitable, a built in buff engine that also swings hard. +2/+0 and trample ability.

• Supernatural Stamina, +2/+0 for one mana.

Removal

Black has access to the best creature removal in standard with cards like Fatal Push, Wall the Plank, Vraskas Contempt, Hour of Glory, and Bontus Last Reckoning. Its only natural that this deck would have some to take out pesky creatures that could interrupt the win condition.

• Fatal Push, use Evolving Wilds to trigger Revolt and boom..

• Hour of Glory, its easier on the mana than Vraskas Contempt and has a similar effect for a fraction of the monetary cost.

Creatures

Deathtouch makes this deck work the way its intended. Swinging trample and deathtouch to maximize damage on the enemy player.

• Deeproot Champion, with the amount of non-creature spells in the deck this guy can really be a valuable blocker and grow.
