Trying my hand at Standard. Idea of course is lay down Defender creatures early, then do the ol' Doran trick on 'em. I'm not sure my removal is enough, although
Plummet
is great (probably should use more of them) and
Citywide Bust
deals with those pesky green hexproof tramplers.
I love
Knight of Autumn
in here (or in any GW deck), she has saved my ass so many times with her destroy enchantment ability or her gain life ability, whichever one I need at the moment.
I also love
Deputy of Detention
in here as he does what he does AND is a 3/3 attacker when the toughness starts dealing damage.
Should I put
Prodigious Growth
in here to seal the deal? I think stopping earlier threats is more critical to me staying alive long enough, although the short game sometimes wins me games while the control or midgame player is still setting up. Last game I played had two
Wall of Mist
on the board and then I cast
High Alert
. Swinging with two 5/5s in the early game either gets me in winning range OR causes them to spend expensive burn spells or
Murder
on my Walls of Mist. And when your opponent spends the mana to Murder your Wall of Mist, you know you're doing well ;)
The decks in the meta that I have trouble with are counterspell/mill decks and...well that seems to be the main deck that can beat me more often than the others. ;)
NOTE: I don't play counterspells.
Advice is welcome. Cards I think I should swap out with better ones are
Steeple Creeper
and... the others seem beneficial and I don't know what to swap out, that's always the tough part.
