Adeliz - Double Soaring Fist Style

Commander / EDH* Casual Combo Tribal UR (Izzet) Wizards

homemaderum

Adeliz heads up the first in a series of EDH decks built in a friendly deckbuilding competitions. Each round involves building a couple decks to share at Guy's Night amongst a group of veteran players; there are arbitrary restrictions for the purposes of forcing difficult choices, flexing build skills, and ensuring parity and engaging games.
This time around, the deckbuilding restrictions are based on rarity: a maximum of 10 Mythics, 20 Rares, 30 Uncommons, and 40 Commons. We can downgrade slots, so you could run 9 Mythics and 21 Rares, for example.
Suggestions, thoughts and impressions are welcome! Adding notes on strategy, combos, etc., as I develop this one. Enjoy!

For , Adeliz provides us with a hasty, evasive 2/2 wizard. While not much on her own, her second ability, which goes off whenever we cast an instant or sorcery, buffs all of our wizards! Sort of a hybrid anthem-prowess effect, this will be the backbone of Adeliz's deck - we'll build along the lines of wizard-tribal, and supplement with value-oriented instants and sorceries (rather than the other way around, or a focused storm-build). There's a ton of viable options at all rarities for both wizards and spells, and we can keep the overall curve low (for a non-competitive EDH deck, at least). That'll play to Adeliz's aggressive side. There's even enough options that we can include a few sub themes: Anthem-like abilities, ETB effects and, the namesake of the deck, doubling effects. Is it too much for one deck? Probably, but that's why BOTH fists are on fire! There's a lot to like if you're in the mood for a friendly tribal beatdown and spellslinging shenanigans!
Here's a few links to inspiration, primers and deck-techs used to help put this list together.

This deck is PACKED with synergistic strategies that you can shift between as you need to throughout the game.
Fists of the Master. While Adelize naturally can help herself go for a commander damage kill by slinging a few spells, she's really better suited to a group beatdown with her Wizard buddies. Even so, Runechanter's Pike and Balduvian Rage take Adelize's power levels over 9000.
Students of the Soaring Fist. Adelize's students include many who mimic her ability to draw strength from their inner spellfire: Wee Dragonauts , and Stormchaser Mage are some of our best martial wizards. A number of key utility players also serve to jack up the power levels, such as Docent of Perfection  , Naru Meha, Master Wizard , and Sage of Fables . Dynacharge , Savage Beating and Insult will help push our damage output over the top like a crane kick to the face.
Spellfire Ancients Besides our wizards, a menagerie of ancient monsters support Adeliz's inclination to spell slinging. Niv-Mizzet, Parun draws us cards when spells are cast, Charmbreaker Devils has some pseudo prowess and gets spells back, and Erratic Cyclops can power out a win over the top of puny mortal blockers. While not monsters, Adeliz's monastery scholars include Archaeomancer and Augur of Bolas , to get even more utility crammed into our school of war wizardry.
Exploding Gale Technique The first fist of the Double Soaring Fist Style is the Exploding Gale technique. The basics of this approach is to combine powerful effects with copy effects, to devastate our foes. For example, Expansion / Explosion can singlehandedly end someone when copied by Sigil Tracer or Bonus Round and built on a High Tide or Caged Sun foundation.
Raging Ember Technique the second fist of the Double Soaring Fist Style is the Raging Ember technique. Here, we're looking to chain together a handful of spells with low mana costs into a rapid fire assault of burning rage. With Adeliz or Haze of Rage to finish, a chain of Lightning Bolt , Opt , Dynacharge and Temur Battle Rage will help wrap up games in our favor.
I'll add more notes as I discover cool interactions, but for now …
- Ghostly Flicker + Dualcaster Mage . This is the only infinite combo I'm including, because sometimes you just need to wrap up a game. Flicker some things, then Flash in Dualcaster, targeting Ghostly Flicker. Make sure one of your Flicker targets from the copied Ghostly Flicker is the Dualcaster, and repeat to get a loop that allows for infinite Flickers. This makes unlimited mana by flickering a land with the other target of each Ghostly Flicker copy, which you can tap prior to flickering to float a mana to your pool - as long as you target a land that enters untapped, you can repeat to create infinite mana of any color combination you can produce.
- Insult + Bonus Round or Thousand-Year Storm . Imagine copying Insult 3-4 times in a row! Even adding something simple, like Dynacharge to get things started gets ridiculous. With Bonus Round, Dynacharge doubled would put Adeliz at 8/4 (+2/+0 for each Dynacharge, +1/+1 for casting two spells
Initial gameplay did alright; heavy on mana consistently, but this did enable 20+ mana worth of spell chains. Naban was underwhelming, and Dowsing Dagger   drew a lot of attention. Several of the weaker Warmages were do-nothing cards without considerable card support - Dowsing Dagger  , Spellfire Eternal, Equilibrium and Naban, Dean of Iteration ; + Magus of the Future , Capsize , Torrential Gearhulk , and Sword of the Animist . Could use more power on Adeliz, or combat stunt spells.
