Rally the Ancestors is just a card I can not get out of my system. I have tinkered with various Modern Abzan Rally decks now for a few years with out too much success. I think I have finally hit on the right mix and have produced something special. I call it Abzan Rally Rally

Essentially this is a combo deck looking to get a Viscera Seer + Blood Artist/Cutthrout + Renegade Rallier + Saffi Eriksdotter. You can then sac Saffi to put her ability on the Rallier, then sac the Rallier, he comes back and brings back Saffi. You can then repeat that over and over for infinite Drains + Scrys.

I know what you are thinking "A 4 card combo in Modern won't work". Normally I would agree, but I have found it surprisingly consistent because many of the pieces help you dig for, or return the other pieces.

Add to that the "Hammer" of Rally the Ancestors. Most times if you cast this card you will win the game. It turns games on their ear and pulls wins seemingly out of thin air. Learning how to stack and navigate the triggers produced to assemble a winning board is truly what makes the deck interesting and fun.

The deck has a decent back up plan of beat down + value drains, and can just get there without the combo. It can generate a significantly large board presence and many games will just be won with multiple big Voice tokens.

One of the deck's big up sides, compared to most creature combo decks, is that most removal is not actually that great against you. Creatures in the graveyard are highly valued, or even preferred, so having them removed or having to chump block is not a big deal. Not to many other creature decks get to happily run multiple Wraths in their board like this one.

The deck is not tier 1 by any means. It is not very interactive, it can have a hard time with Graveyard hate cards, and certain silver bullet cards just turn off the deck. It is also quite hard to play optimally, but that is what makes it fun. There are a ton of decisions to be made and triggers to stack correctly, and lines to explore. Every time I play with it I figure out some new angle I had not seen before, or a new way to pull out a win.

Update For a while I thought the biggest hole in the deck was that it needed another creature like Satyr Wayfinder to help fill up the Graveyard fast. When the M19 was spoiled and I saw Stitcher's Supplier I knew that hole was gone. It has really helped focus the deck and increased the consistency of quick combos.
