This deck is based on the Labmaniac's 300 and 500$ budget lists. Their deck tech is much more thorough than mine, so I suggest you take a look at it.

The major change I've done over their list is swapping out its main wincon, which is Boonweaver Giant (and some of the clunkier pieces like Reveillark), for a leaner and more resilient Protean Hulk package.

I'm just starting out with the deck, but from what I understand, here's the suggested line of play for when Protean Hulk dies for the first time, which Reddit user P0m laid out in a recent post.

1st Hulk

• 4CMC Academy Rector
• 1CMC Viscera Seer
• 1CMC Carrion Feeder
• 0CMC - Dryad Arbor

Sac Academy Rector to get Animate Dead from your library, targeting Protean Hulk in your GY.

2nd Hulk

Sac Protean Hulk.

• 3CMC Renegade Rallier
• 2CMC Grand Abolisher or Phyrexian Revoker naming Faerie Macabre
• 1CMC Whatever works. Even though they're not related to the combo, I like Deathrite Shaman or Birds of Paradise here. If you get disrupted and live to untap again, they could be useful.

Renegade Rallier _Revolt_triggers, getting Animate Dead from your GY, targeting Protean Hulk also in your GY.

3rd Hulk

Sac Protean Hulk.

• 2CMC Saffi Eriksdotter
• 2CMC Zulaport Cutthroat
• 2CMC Grand Abolisher or Phyrexian Revoker naming Faerie Macabre or another stax piece

If everything went according to plan, you should now have your winning board state.

Win

You can start draining the table to death once you have the following board state:

• Saffi Eriksdotter
• Renegade Rallier
• Zulaport Cutthroat
• Viscera Seer / Carrion Feeder

Here's how to:

1. Sac Saffi Eriksdotter, targeting Renegade Rallier.
2. Zulaport Cutthroat is triggered when Saffi Eriksdotter dies. Drain 1.
3. Sac Renegade Rallier.
4. Zulaport Cutthroat is triggered when Renegade Rallier dies. Drain 1.
5. Using Saffi Eriksdotter's ability, return Renegade Rallier to the battlefield.
6. When it ETBs, Renegade Rallier's Revolt triggers, targeting Saffi Eriksdotter in your GY.
7. Returns Saffi Eriksdotter to the battlefield.

You're now back at the board state you had in Step 1. Repeat Steps 1 through 7 until the table is drained.

Alternate Lines

Angel of Glory's Rise reanimate line: Buried Alive, putting Academy Rector, Cartel Aristocrat and Angel of Glory's Rise in the GY.

If Saffi Eriksdotter or Renegade Rallier gets stuck in hand: the best line of play becomes Academy Rector > Pattern of Rebirth > Karmic Guide

If Altar of Dementia is out: Saffi Eriksdotter + Renegade Rallier loops will mill the whole table. Leonin Relic-Warder along with an Animate Dead enchantement, targeting it.

If everything else fails: Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite reanimate into dork/hatebear beatdown is the back-up plan.

Next Upgrades

Deck is still WIP, with budget being the big limiting factor. Maybeboard are the top upgrades I am considering at the moment, with some duplicates being gold-bordered cards I want to replace.
